I'm getting ready to buy an iPhone 4 but I have a question about porting my number. I am on US Cellular and on a Family Plan with my parents and they aren't switching over to AT&T. My father is the primary number on the plan. So when I go to port my number over what do I have to do to ensure that my number leaves their plan and nothing happens to their contract or plan?

I was in a similar situation. I was on a Verizon family plan with my mom has the primary line. I first purchased the iPhone with a new/temp number. After that I went to the AT&T store in order to port (you may also be able to do this over the phone).

In your case you will need your fathers name, address, account number, PIN/password for account if applicable, your dads SSN number, and also your new/temp number you got on the iPhone. Porting was extremely fast for me, i was done in 10 mins.
