Just spoke to two separate O2 customer service people (- got cut off the first time and had to call back), but one of them told me the number port would take 2-3 days and the other said 5-7 days.

Both told me that the iphone will come with its own number in anycase, so it can be used as soon as it's charged and registered.

The port will be facilitated via a valid PAC code and a call to the customer services within 28 days of registering.

It will probably take 2-3 days, but most people advise 3-5 just in case of any delays.

You'll be able to use your 'temporary number' which comes with the iPhone, and your old number will still be usable with your current mobile until the transfer goes through.

Then it will disconnect.

I plan on forwarding my orange number to the iPhone's temp number until the port goes through.

yeah sure, but it's only for a few days,. it'll be a minimal expense. Preferable to lugging two phones about, anyway.
