When you go through the activation process in iTunes - there will be a section to enter your PAC code there.

o2 say it can take between 3-5 days to be ported over, but you will get a temp number in the meantime.

I am going to be doing the same thing as I dont want the hassle of having to tell everyone a new number. Will hopefully get my PAC code sorted out by the end of this week.

PAC codes last for 30 days - so you won't have a problem at all.

I'm gutted I can't port my number over as I'm still in-contract... But it's gonna be fun telling people I've 'had' to get a new phone... I can't wait for people to ask why or what phone... :D

I'm already with O2, will I need to get hold of a PAC code? or will it be handled differently? if so, how? Thanks :)

actually ported my number from orange to o2 pay as you go today in preperation for nov 09. I got the code within a week and then o2 took a week to get me over. Bring on Nov 09

You can port across when in-contract, the question is how long have you still to run on that contract as your current provider may charge you to cancel early (effectively they might treat it as early termination)
