Now that Portrait Mode is supported in FaceTime, does this mean I will be able to utilize this effect when taking a video?
That would make it even more of a cinema camera. Nice!My guess is Apple is saving that feature for the iPhone 13 Pro.
Are you saying that the Google Meet and Discord apps allowed you to use the Portrait Mode effect with the True Depth camera system? Or did these apps have their own effect for this? My understanding is that it hasn’t been available. You can use the portrait mode effect in any app by enabling it in the control center.
what’s funny though is you can’t enable this in the actual camera app. I was able to take a front facing video using the camera recorder in Discord and I was able to use the native portrait mode on a Google Meet call.

Interesting — thanks for the tip. I wonder why Apple didn’t make this available in their camera app for video, and why they’re just now adding it to FaceTime video calls. It is available and it uses the system API - it's not a custom feature I'm using in those apps.
When an app is using the front-facing camera, just open control center and choose Video, and enable Portrait.

iPhone 13 exclusive feature incoming 😀Interesting — thanks for the tip. I wonder why Apple didn’t make this available in their camera app for video, and why they’re just now adding it to FaceTime video calls.
If it delivers a cinema-like Bokeh effect in video, this would make sense. And if it does, I think it would have a big impact on filmmaking.iPhone 13 exclusive feature incoming 😀
Maybe because it’s only on the front-facing FaceID camera?I wonder why Apple didn’t make this available in their camera app for video, and why they’re just now adding it to FaceTime video calls.
