Hey,
Can anyone confirm if it will now be possible to take portrait mode shots on both the wide angle and the regular lens on the iPhone 11 pro? (As in basically on ALL lenses?)
That would be the only feature that could make me upgrade eventually from my X. Though I really would like to hold on to it for another year but... it would be tempting!

I've been really disappointed in Portrait mode on my Xs. I use it on things other than human faces and there are all sorts of strange artifacts. My Pixel 2XL does a much better job with a single camera.

I’m not disappointed in portrait mode on the X at all, just I prefer the look of the 25mm lens on the XR a lot over the 50mm on the X, also because of light sensitivity.

I’m not sure whether there’s an option to change lens in Portrait mode, but in any case the Pro’s telephoto lens is 40% more light sensitive than the XS according to Apple.

Hopefully though we can now do portraits using the wide and ultra wide, but I’ve yet to see any hands on reviewers try this.

ultra wide portraits seems impossible atm.
Didn’t they say specifically in the keynote presentation of the IPhone 11 that now “because we have two lenses we can do portrait mode in those beautiful wide shots of not just people but also objects”? That’s why I thought, it has to be possible on the PRO as well now- it not in wide angle (wide angle shots rarely have much DoF blue anyways) but in the regular lens.

I didn’t see anyone mentioning it, but on MKBHD hands on video you can see that yes, you can take portrait shots from both cameras now

Well he says you can (and I have no reason to doubt him), but the video doesn‘t show him taking a wide angle portrait.

Ok, from the horse‘s mouth: „The triple-camera system takes Portrait mode to a new level with the ability to choose Wide and Telephoto framing, enabling Portrait mode with a wider field of view, great for taking portraits of multiple people. The Telephoto camera features a larger ƒ/2.0 aperture to capture 40 percent more light compared to iPhone Xs for better photos and videos.“
