    If only...

This the new barracuda of hard drives, introducing the WD Velociraptor. it's form factor without the heat-sink is actually 2.5" but at 10,000RPM... it's gonna be fast! Though this beast wasn't designed for the laptop market... it's actually destined for the common desktop!!

However, can you imagine coming up with a mod to fitted it into your lovely MBP, then somehow find the power, to power this thing? Can you imagine the performance? Oh.. wait, can you imagine what the heat would be like?? It's gotta be hot!

I was wondering if this was going to be available for the MacBook Pro, it's a 2.5" hard drive. However, it won't fit and if it needs the heatsink, it won't keep cool... which sucks, because this drive would be awesome!! Any type of 10,000 RPM hard drive would make Leopard fly!

The drive height is also too large. I think I read it was 12mm, which is bigger than the 9mm that the MBP will allow ;-)

    Or something like that

    You could always...

You could always drop it into an external eSata enclosure and connect to your MBP via the Express Card slot... It looks roughly the same size (with the heatsink) as a standard 3.5" hard drive.
