Possible bad TB3 port?

I have one port (back right) that if I connect my 5K LG monitor to causes a regular blanking out of the monitor. The other ports seem to work fine. Is there any diagnostics tool that I can run to check it?

Which mbp do you own?

Due to PCIe restrictions 2 of the Tb ports on the 13 inch machines are half bandwidth and may struggle with a 5k screen.

2016 15 inch. I think it’s bad because my external hard drives will not mount using that port.

Sounds like a dodgy port to me too mate, take it into Apple and get it diagnosed if you can.

Today is the last day of warranty. My concern is that they won't find anything wrong with it because SOME drives connect fine, but others don't. I can reproduce the issue with my monitor easily, but I don't want to lug that 27 inch monitor in to show them.
