iPhone Possible Bugs on iPhone XR

Been almost 3 weeks on the XR, love the phone, monster battery, and everything has been smooth, apart from a few bugs that have been bothering me. Posting here to see if you also have them or I need to visit the apple store to have this checked.

1. Weird line on Safari when you open it first time. So if you quit Safari and open it first time, you see a weird line for a split second, and then it disappears. If Safari is running and you open it from AppSwitcher, you don't see the line at all. This can't be reproduced on landscape mode. Clearly a software bug. I am on 12.1.1, and didn't happen on 12.1. Screenshot attached.

2. Using an eSIM, personal hotspot has had mixed behaviour all around (a few posts do exist on this forum). If I use the physical card, it works very well. Also, on my Macbook, I see just 1 bar in the personal hotspot, but obviously that is not the case on my iPhone. This only happens with the eSIM.

3. Happens once a while when I try to unlock the phone, it does unlock, however phone has a semi black screen and the only way around is to press the lock button and then unlock it, then it works. Trying to figure out if this is hardware related or software.

This is coming off a fresh install btw.

I don’t have an esim but I don’t experience 1 or 3 on mine that I notice. The battery is my favourite thing about this phone!

Thanks for the feedback. I will wait and see if these are reported widely or will visit the Apple store.

Restore to 12.1 while it's still signed

Ipsw.me To download firmware , hold shift and hit restore button in iTunes and point it to the file

Also xr has been out like 6 weeks, not 3 months. Xs isn't even 3 months old uet (one more week)

Thanks, but I have seen 2 and 3 on 12.1 as well.

As for the black screen thing I haven’t seen it but only been on 12.1 since last night. Otherwise 12.0.1 since launch and some random bugs in general but as good as it’ll get for a x.0 release imo. Hope 12.1 works out I’m sure it’ll be ok since most Xr shipped with 12.1 I believe

There are also two 12.1’s so I would make sure you have the 16B94 build specifically released just for XR. Not that the other isn’t for Xr also, but they issued ANOTHER 12.1 before 12.1.1 and that’s the one I’m referring to. Never know.

This same version number, two different builds thing, occurred on 7/7+ also for 10.1 iirc

Yes, the eSIM problem is quite understood. It is a cosmetic bug and really isn't a deal breaker, it still functions normally as it should. So I decided to try out the new 12.1.2 beta and see if that helps, I didn't see 1 on it, but yes 2 and 3 still showed up. So I further decided to do a DFU restore on my phone to 12.1.1 with the ipsw downloaded from ipsw.me. Has been close to 12 hours since I did it, haven't come across 1 and 3 till now. Hopefully it stays that way.

I have booked a genius bar appointment for this Friday, just in case. Will keep on updating here.
