Possible fix for noisy audio?

Could an external USB headphone jack converter resolve messy audio in new MBPs? I've begun to notice this annoying static that plays every time the system makes a noise...a tick comes before the music or the alert or whatever, then static underlies the primary sound, and when the intended music stops, the hiss continues for a time...it is really annoying. I'm no tech expert, but I thought that could be a solution.

Has anyone tried this yet? Could anyone recommend a USB jack? None seem to be listed on store.apple.com...so I am a little hesitant of purchasing...

I've seen many people mentioning the Griffin iMic http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/imic/

As far as fixing the audio hiss (haven't yet heard it myself, but haven't spent a lot of time with headphones on yet), it would reduce noise from the other laptop components if they were the cause.
