I thought we wouldn't have to deal with these anymore since the front and back are covered in glass, but it appears the sides of the white material where they meet the stainless steel frame are not covered with any glass. I was really leaning towards the white, but now I'm not so sure... (scratches circled for reference) If my white 3G was any indication, these can get annoyingly noticeable.

EDIT: Most people, myself now included, think these are just pieces of fuzz. Title changed to prevent further confusion.

nooooooooo :(

I really wanted the white one! lol.

So it's either fingerprints, or hairline scratches... ugh..

That's why you have bumpers. ;) I'm getting the white iphone4 and can't wait! Slashgear video sold me.`

That's some kind of fuzz. Look at that first pic, one of the "cracks" is in the shape of a U, and it doesn't start at the seam like most of the other cracks.

IMO those are in no way cracks.

Hmm, now that you mention it....

That's what I was hoping, but the one in the last pic makes me think otherwise.

um, isnt the black one manufactured the same way? just different colour?
they look like fluff, not cracks

is this for real??? you can hardly even see those scratches!

Do you expect it to be indestructible?

Those tinnnnny scratches really bother you guys this much?

I never had a problem with cracks on my Iphone 3G or 3GS but I have seen some white Iphones that look absolutely horrible because of cracks turning into a virtual sea of cracks all over the back.

The tiny ones aren't that bothersome, it's when they grow and take over the back of the phone that people get a little annoyed.

phones scratch, if thats all the damage i ever saw on mine i would be quite pleased

look at the 3gs next to it, its all scratched up, but would anybody say it looked terrible? no because that's what happens when you use something, normal wear and tear

It's not really a wear and tear issue; it's a manufacturing defect that has plagued the white 3G/3GS. If those things are actually fuzzies, I'll be very pleased, but I guess there's no way of knowing. I might take a chance and get white anyway. :)

honestly, if they are there on the white they are there on the black, just less noticeable

i mean they are made out of all the same material aren't they?

Yeah, you're probably right. So really, it's a decision between fingerprints, and maybe some small scratches. Or lots of fuzzies. :D

Yes. Both white and black iPhones have cracking plastic. Black just not as visible. It was a misconception that only the white ones were defective.
