Possible iMac virus

I think I have a virus on my iMac ! When I go to safari, under the search box is an ad for updating windows drivers. I can't get rid of it because the only choices I have are Yes or Scan. It has also posted lots of junk in my photos and I can't delete them either. Can you help?

I agree - download and run Malwarebytes.
The scan only takes a few seconds, and should find your culprit.

Safari -> Preferences

Irritating, yes, but definitely not a virus. Even though the buttons say "scan" and "yes" you should be able to close the window using the red button at the top left, or cmd-W. It's just a nuisance popup. Follow the others' advice to permanently rid yourself of it.

You've inadvertently installed Adware. Run Malwarebytes and it'll get rid of it.

The downloads from CNET now almost always contain adware (sometimes more than one). Don't us cnet
