I'm thinking of getting a new MacBook Pro when they release them with Skylake CPUs but the price seems a little high when looking at the current ones. The base 5K iMac was $2500 when it was first announced but now you can get it for $1800 which is a significant price drop. Is it possible for Apple to drop the price of the rMBP 2016 model also?

Strongly doubt it.

Apple didn't increase the price points when retina was introduced (beyond 'currency fluctuations'), so I doubt they'll drop them. If anything, an increase internationally is more likely.
