Just noticed the lid of my Early 2015 13” MBP doesn’t close flush and the right side has a bigger gap compared to the left side. Haven’t dropped it or any damage to the case. I do not see any other signs of the case warping.

Yep.. battery swelling for sure. Looks like the bottom is swelling also since it is not sitting flat in the desktop.

Enter your serial number here to see if it is covered.

It's not sadly....

Of course having Apple call me, the system malfunctioned when I kept pressing 1! Now to wait 10 minutes. Sort of sucks because I was hoping it would last long enough to make it to the launch of the 13"/14" MBP with the Apple Silicon and have it be my testing the waters computer since it is my light use machine and gauge when it could be a good time to move over once my iMac needs upgrading.

You could use Apple's flat rate $199 repair for this. I think it would be worth to keep that thing going another year or so.
Good advice. Or if he's comfortable popping the back off he could replace the battery with an OEM battery from iFixit to save a little money.

I think his top case and even the bottom case are swollen there, so he'll need more than just that battery swapped. If you use the Apple $199 service they will replace the case and everything. The top case even includes the keyboard, so get a new keyboard out of the deal also.

Just got the computer back yesterday. I am always impressed with Apple's turnaround. Got the box and sent if off Monday-> Apple received it and repaired it Tuesday-> Got it back Wednesday.

They even dropped the cost of repair down to the Flat Rate Tier 1 where the phone support initially charged me the Flat Rate Tier 2. So $200 less to repair it. With a fresh new battery, should be able to squeeze 2-3 more years out of this machine considering I only use it for light use. Now for the Big Sur Public Beta to come out. :)

im sorry but I have same MacBook Pro , only use for three years (less then 300 cycles...)
and it is shame for apple to manufacture this stuff and not recognizing their fault (in the 15 inch model they made a recall bacuse of this)
and here you can see my battery before (again, less than 300 cycle ! )
