I work retail and have lots of people coming back saying that after trying to upgrade to iOS 6 their phone is bricked ( says connect to iTunes ) I help them out by doing a recovery but the iOS 6 update takes literally 15 hours due to poor wifi in our building. Is there any way I could save iOS 6 to a flash drive or anything? I would like to further assist these people and it sucks that I can't help them out further
Very easily. By the way, bricking is permanent. I wouldn't call connecting to itunes bricking. Anyway, when you download the file during a restore, it saves it to "~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates" for mac and "\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates" for vista and above, "\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates" on XP. Simply make a backup of the downloaded file before iTunes deletes it.
