Possible to save content (video) on my iPhone and stream to my iPad screen?

Is there any way to do this?

I have a 64GB iPad and an iPhone with 4 times as much storage. Would be great if I could somehow use the storage on my iPhone for content (video) to be consumed on the iPad (while ‘offline’ traveling).

Unless you constantly keep your iPhone awake with the streaming app active (e.g. Plex for iOS has a media server option), the video stream times out eventually (maybe 5-10 minutes?). It's also killer on your iPhone battery. It's really not practical to do this.

I have a similar plan, but i haven't got myself an ipad yet. I did do some research, and maybe you could try the APowerMirror app, and report back 🙂

If you're thinking of playing back Netflix, they do more DRM (digital rights management) as i recently encountered when i tried to play Netflix from my IPhone to my Macbook. So, just pointing out that the app may also influence whether you can stream.

I don’t know of any way to do this. I’ve had similar situations but what I would actually prefer is being able to transfer individual video files (or any media files) from device to device. It would eat less battery than streaming to just transfer it then play it on device. Then you delete it when you’re done. But stupidly, that’s not possible either, at least with iTunes videos.

If you managed to download any video file, just install infuse app and transfer to the app using iTunes file sharing and play it.
If you are in a local WiFi network, you can share your video folder using SMB from a Mac and access it via the infuse app too.

I think we’re talking about streaming (or transferring) from iOS device to iOS device, particularly an iPhone to iPad, particularly when away from home or traveling, and offline. If there was a MacBook handy, it would probably be better to just watch on that since it’s the biggest screen. Or if it was a Mac desktop on a WiFi network, homeshare would be the most convenient option since you don’t need to worry about battery.

I don’t see a reason why Apple doesn’t let you just airdrop an iTunes movie from iPhone to iPad if they’re both your devices using the same Apple ID. If they did, you could spread your video library across your devices instead of trying to fit your entire library on each device. Because the latter means you have to buy the largest storage capacity possible for each device. Maybe I just answered my own question.

Would using something like RavPower accomplish it? Instead of putting it on iTunes, you just pull it from the hard drive.

As seomeone mentioned above, use the Infuse app to airdrop movies from the device with larger storage to the one with smaller storage, and then delete it as soon as you've watched it.

Its not streaming it, but it solves the problem of lots of files on one device with lots of storage, and little space on another device. The airdrop transfer is very quick as well, a few seconds for a typical TV show, no more than 10-20 seconds for a movie.

This is what I do pretty much on a daily basis for my commute.
