Currently, the "Modular" watch face shows time without showing A.M. (before noon) and P.M. (after noon).
Is there a possible way to show it, so that the time will display at, like 5:46 AM / 5:46 PM? (not simply change it to 24-hour format)

On the basis that we generally know if it's AM or PM, I would understand it not being there.

Although there is a need for it on the World Clocks. Is there a World Clock complication that can help you?

You could change the watch's setting so that it always displays 24hr time...

I mean, c'mon- the OP specifically mentioned this as something they did not want to do.... Should read the whole post.

I've wondered this as well, though I am way more interested in Apple adding seconds to the time on any/all of the digital Watch Faces, as AM/PM isn't really something you don't already know.
