This has to be easier than I'm making it.

Is there a way to sync, then actually USE, FileMaker files on an iPad using Dropbox as the common link? Would love to access the most recent version remotely over wifi so I don't have to tote the MBP (where the originals are stored) to all my meetings.

All FM items are current in Dropbox on the MBP. I also have the Dropbox app installed on the iPad. The problem seems to be that I can't export the files from the iPad Dropbox app to Filemaker Go (or, conversely, figure out how to import them to FM Go from Dropbox).

I've also tried doing this through the GoodReader app (syncing to Dropbox that way), but again, can't find a way to get them out of GR and into FM Go.

Of course, if I'm in the same room as the laptop, it's possible to sync via iTunes or using a peer-to-peer connection, but what's the point? If I had the laptop along, I'd be firing up FM on that instead.

Any suggestions? Have raked through the forum here (only finding loads of Bento threads), as well as Google searches, but no luck.

If you need the actual FM file because you've changed the structure or layouts of that file and you want to open a new version in FM Go, then no there isn't. You need to sync the file for FM Go to read it.

If you need the content of the FM file then yes you can host the file on a FileMaker Server and connect to it from FM Go.

Filemaker go sync with macbook

So is there anyway of adding content on the iPad in the day and then using the wireless network to sync the database on the MacBook in the evening?

Thanks

Matt
