I've done some google searches on how to unlock my iPhone 4, running iOS 4.3.1 and baseband 04.10.01

From what I've read, ultrasn0w is not compatible with this baseband version.

I'm wondering if there has been any updates on this, or if it is even possible to unlock this iPhone?

Thanks!

Its a pain in the a$$ IMO but it works in the end.
Read up on how it works and what needs to be done each time etc...

I read about it, what do you mean "each time"? From what I see there are no recurring steps, it's just a one time thing. Is it not?

One thing to remember with the Gevey SIM hack, it no longer works in iOS 5.

As long as I can get it unlocked for the firmware it has now, it will be fine with me. Just need to unlock it.

No.
You have to do the unlock when you power on/restart the phone and sometimes when you lose signal.

Gevey is your only option but I would definitely let the buyer know what you are doing. I'd be pissed if I bought a phone and then realized that I had to go through all that trouble, sometimes frequently, just to be able to use it.

Well said.
I see many people advertise unlocked iphone on ebay and CL and all they do is sell a locked iphone with a gevey sim.
And then the buyer is left there with this chip trying to figure out what to do and how to do it.

For sure.

Thanks guys for the info.

I am currently running my iPhone 4 4.3.3 on a 4.10.1. I am using a legit grevey sim that I got from ApplenBerry. I do not have to do the procedure everytime I reboot. I downloaded furiousmode from Cydia. You have to google the source. When I reboot it takes about 30 to 40 seconds to find Tmobile. And that is it. I was doing the different procedures before I found furiousmode and that was a pain. The other way makes life so much easier because I reboot at least once a day. :)

No.

Not unless you use the Gevey in combination with a jailbreak.

In addition, if you're selling the phone it is worth mentioning that the Gevey is the absolute, only way to unlock the phone, given the baseband restriction. You can say it like that, or go more in depth, but do say it and provide a link to instructions. It gives buyers more confidence in you as a seller.

there are still some Jb that have preserved the 1.59 baseband. though they are rare now it's a better way then Gevey IMO. I had mine till I had to exchange my phone at Apple. Also people should know that Gevey is a unknown with 5.0 and on. 1.59 will live on for those that know what there doing. :D
