I was wondering if it's possible to use my DSL connection and my iPhone connection simultaneously. Say, one for downloads and one to surf the web with? Just curious...

Sure, download off your DSL connection on your desktop/laptop, surf web on your iPhone. 🙂

If the tethering uses a different device to access the internet and have a different IP address than the LAN, sure its possible. Might have problems with the binding though. Internet applications tend to use the first available device.
