Hi all,

I've been thinking about my problem and how can I fix it. As far as I know, If the ATV pass all the test it may be working properly and maybe, the error in the update, could be due a partition table bug (when the update tried to install itself it found an error in the destination path... Could be possible?? 😕 ). To solve that I'm going to upgrade the hard drive (was in my mind before finding the error).

I was googling to find "the best" possible hard drive when I found this one. I think it's a good quality-prize option, with enough capacity, but I don't know if the ATV will be enough to maintain it's electrical specifications. What do you think??

The other question is how could I prepare the new hard drive if my original one it's not ok... It's possible? Can I make the partitions with diskutil and terminal??? It's there any place to download a complete disk image through emule or torrent?? 😕

Thanks in advance!!!

The ATV uses a PATA drive, not a SATA drive.
The one I've post is PATA 😉 I've only found this WD searching in all the models and manufacturers I know...

By other hand, it's possible to hack the ATV software with patchstick or ATVflash with a PPC computer??? I read a lot of guides and all of them said that an Intel based Mac it's necessary.... I'm not going to be able to do it with my PowerBook??? 😱😕

Not true. You can use Patchstick 2.1 with a PPC Mac. PM me for more info.

What about the Western Digital hard drive I've posted??? Would be ok for the AppleTV???

CaveMan is the expert for internal harddrives. You can basically use any external USB hard drive.

Ok, I'll ask him 😉 Notice that I'm going to use the WD without a USB case, I'd like to change the 40GB original disk and plug the 250GB one...
