I was sitting here pondering, would it possible to when a jailbreak is avaliable for iOS4 , to turn on MyWi broadcasting, automatically connected you to your tethered internet connection and possible to use FaceTime when truely its just your 3G network broadcasted via WiFi

I'm not jailbroken, so I don't know. But I heard there is an app that tricks your other apps into thinking its on WiFi when it is only on 3G. Would this work the same way? So you wouldn't need to mess with the MyFi stuff at all.

    I agree.
3G unrestrictor or other JB apps might accomplish that by tricking your phone to think its on wifi.
Of even by the method the OP described above.
If the iphone is connected to another iphone thru mywi it thinks its on Wifi so it will still work on a stock iphone 4 to connect to an iphone wifi created with mywi.

I just tried the new Apple video over my wifi and then over 3G.

Definite reduction in quality over 3G.

Keeping wifi turned off I enabled MyWi.

Presto! Running over 3G with the performance of wifi :D.

The catch with doing it with MyWi though is that it is still transmitting a hotspot which will consume power.

I'll wait to have the 4 in hand and the jailbreak before buying 3G Unrestrictor.

Those of you who have 3G Unrestrictor working for FaceTime...

Which iOS are you guys on?
I have an iPhone 4 running on iOS 4.1 and I couldn't get it to work for me. I tried it on my buddy's iPhone 4 iOS 4.0.1 and his works.

    I'm guessing dev-team hasn't fixed it for 4.1 yet?
