i just wanted it for a change, but i've changed it now. although you'd still probably hate what i've got now...:p

I don't think I have EVER met someone who wanted to switch from X to XP.
:) but yet :(

Hey, why does your iCal say Jul17???

Something I'm a little surprised at is how come there aren't more people making their own backgrounds? Most of you are all using something you've found online?

he he he....I use my own photography for my backgrounds...

it's fast & easy...and makes for great conversation starters with clients & new people at coffee shops! ;)

I use my photos as well, but I think the next one will be something I've created from scratch - not sure what that will be yet.

NICE! :D

so did that shot happen to take place in a courtyard somewhere in the French Quarter by chance? ;)

Yeeeesss, you know that - I've had this on my desktop now for a couple months. I'll get around to changing it soon - but again, not sure what, and it wil have to be unique but subtle.

Man, this is great guys!! Awsome ideas for my powerbook I should get today...hopefully. But I've been saying 'today' for 4 and a half weeks. Question: Does a more complicated background slow down the system significantly more than a basic one?

The background shouldn't have any effect on the system, unless you're running one of the screensavers in the background.

Goodluck,

Well the guy I'm getting mine from is staying home today so apple can deliver one of his other PB Ti's to him (he has three). When he gets that one back, I get mine!

Mine says it too. It's just the way the app is. Everytime you startup the machine, it says the date is July 17. Once you open the app, the date updates. If you shutdown the machine, it goes back to July 17.

so if i set a custom picture for the finder windows, and had a transparent picture, would that make the finder window appear like it had a transparent background?

i'll have to try that...

as soon as another cool theme comes out i'll change from the XP one. oh, and in my own defence i'd like to say 'if they copy us, then we'll copy them.'

So what's the verdict KC? :)

Those themes look pretty nice, especially that brushed metal one.

I'd sure hope you can revert back to Aqua if you want to.

F**k, no! I'm liking the SilverFox theme way to freakin' much! Plus, scrolling through menu items is WAY faster.

On my iBook G3, when scrolling through my list of around 200 fonts w/"Aqua", I got about 7 frames per second of fonts changing on screen. With "SilverFox", it's like twice as fast! Seriously, man, wow. I also tested out opening Classic on my Cube, and that went faster by a few seconds. The whole system seemed to speed up, with just a log out and log in.

I'm using 10.1, so I don't care about incompatibility with Jaguar...right now. :)

You might notice the little triangle under his iCal icon... it is open so it should say the correct date.

Didn't notice that...maybe it was opening while he took the screen shot. Though, it would be bouncing while that was going on...hmmm...maybe his date is set wrong. Could be a number of things....interesting....

It would be one BIG coincidence if his date was incorrectly set to the date iCal uses when it is closed
:) :)

It is not that important, just thought it was interesting.

Maybe that is not his desktop at all and he has just been playing around in Photoshop.
;) ;)

no. what i mean is that it just looks like the
finder window is transparent...think of having
two pictures of Carmen Electra. the first one
is black and white and the second one is red.
they are the same picture just different color
properties. one on the desktop *black and white*
one in the finder window *red*.

also the panels that pop out of the side of the
monitor are docs made with DRAGTHING and
i adjusted the opacity *an option in dragthing
when setting up a doc* in these docs to let
the desktop show through.....

no one mentioned the *favorites and navigation*
rectangles i have on the desk top. i made those
with dragthing as well.
when cursor is over the doc *this doc is set to
minimize to the desktop* the transparency
is set to 100 opacity and when i move the
cursor away it is set to 20 transparency....
this simulates a roll over effect. its very cool.
