Post here if you took possession of an iMac on Nov. 30

It must have magnets, they couldn't friction stir the thing with all the internals and monitor inside.
It still has to be assembled, i believe the welding is just to create the channels for cooling in the chin.

The welding is for the aluminum alone, nothing to do with the display. I just want verification that magnets are still being used. They may have switched to some sort of clips or possibly glue (I doubt that though).

Same here seems like I can't get a straight answer on the Fusion Drive model availability in Apple retail stores from anyone or anywhere - I called a few stores and have been scouring the Internet. Maybe I just cannot accept the fact that I'll have to simply order it online and wait :D

Just called the apple store here in Sydney and they do have the 21.5" in stock, some with fusion drives. Hope that helps

Definitely ordering a regular 1TB drive.

I can't stand the sound of a spinning disk, so I have a Samsung 830 256GB in Thunderbolt enclosure ready to connect as my boot drive. As soon as I'm in OS X, I'm ejecting the spinning disk. Hah! :D Problem solved. I don't want a fusion drive, and the 768GB SSD will be extremely expensive.

Come on 27" preorders!

Thank you. That does help. I may wait to order until I can call/go to the apple store in the morning!

I called earlier and they gave me the typical "we don't know answer", but chances are they didn't receive their shipment yet.

So that means at about 2pm your local time, they had fusion drive 21.5's available. Not to mention in a MAJOR city. I like these odds, screw staying awake all night to try and order... I think I'll try my luck tomorrow morning!

Not available in NZ online store yet.

New Zealand online store still doesn't have them available for purchase either. I am going to guess that all the online stores will update at the same time when the US store does. My two best guesses for that timing would be midnight pacific time or when stores typically open in CA. Or maybe just before store opening time.

I won't name names, or call people out because that is probably against forum rules, but can we keep the bickering and trolling to a minimum, after all, this is like Christmas Eve for all us iMac buyers! Screen glare, no screen glare, ODD, no ODD, new, refurb! It is what Apple wants to do, you either like it or you don't, but there is no point fighting over it on a forum! Take it or leave it, Apple can't make 100% of the people happy 100% of the time, they just do what they think is best for their bottom line! Move on and get your credit cards ready! :) :apple:

what if they use flew this time around....

What about 16gb ram?

I asked an ex Apple employee about this, who said they don't usually have higher RAM in the models on the floor...but instead if someone requests an upgrade to the RAM, they will take the system to their Genius Bar and install it on the spot. Not sure if that answers your question.

That's because Apple always goes by Cupertino time.

And even then, Apple doesn't usually update their site with new Mac products at 12am like they do with their iOS devices.

That said, who knows, this time may be different since they announced a launch day for the iMac.
