I'm trying to choose a pair of headphones to use with my new ATV4, but before I drop the cash I'm hoping to hear from folks that have tested some already. Please post which headphones you've used and any issues you might have had, like audio lag, disconnects etc. The pair I'm looking at getting right now are the new V-MODA Crossfade Wireless. They're very highly rated for music and gaming, but I haven't heard much of anything about how they do for movies/tv.

The Skullcandy Uproar Wireless headphones work. They've inexpensive but it you have a large head you may find them uncomfortable (barely fit over the top of the head and pretty tight on the ears). However, the Bluetooth connection seems to work well on the ATV4 and the sound quality is okay).

Is the ATV picky about Bluetooth headphones? Doesn't any old pair of BT headphones work? Is it more just an issue of lag, etc than anything?

As rusty said, it's probably got more to do with interference that anything else.

Beats Solo 2 Wireless here, work brilliantly.

I have 3 generic Bluetooth headsets purchased in the last year and a half. I would say if they work with iPad/iPhone then they should work fine with ATV4. Check the reviews on Amazon, if they have issues with ios then stay away, otherwise you should be fine.

I have tried Syllable and Philips. Both work/pair fine. Both also hiss none stop but that's another story.

Thought I'd update this thread since I started it. I picked up the V-Moda Crossfade Wireless over the holidays and they work beautifully with the ATV4. They're cheaper than the Beats Studio Wireless I tried out, and also built infinitely stronger, sound lightyears better, and are far more versatile. Highly recommended for music, game, and movie lovers.

I have three pairs of < $20 BT headphones from Amazon and all work seamlessly with Apple TV. Mpow, Totu, and some other brand I cant think of. You can even AirPlay from your iOS device, connect BT headpones to Apple TV and you will be able to hear the audio even from AirPlay content. I use this feature all the time when my young daughter is napping.

Got a pair of AKG Y45BT for Christmas. Got around to trying them with Apple TV today, seemed to work fine. Also tried with a SoundFreaq SoundKick speaker but couldn't get it to pair at all, the ATV wouldn't see it at all.

I use Bose noise-cancelling headphones plugged into a Bluetooth receiver. Bose offers an Aptx receiver but I already have the Sony Smart handset, which is excellent. Noise-cancelling headphones have their own amplifiers so amplification is a non-issue.

I have Mpow wireless BT earbuds running fine with my ATV4. I also have my daughter's Jambox BT speaker working perfectly with the ATV4, it has far superior audio than the speaker in my bedroom tv.
