Some spam threads get deleted while others go to the Wasteland. Is there some sort of criteria when this happens? :)

I remember arn saying that threads and posts are never erased, just soft-deleted.

It's up to the individual mod who does the deleting. But as a general rule, straight-up spam gets deleted, while threads that might have some redeeming value (even if only for entertainment purposes) in the future, often get sent to the Wasteland.

Yep, they're not actually removed, they're just flagged as invisible. That way, we (moderators) can go back and look at them if necessary.

On a less serious note, I see people regularly posting 2, 3 or even 4 posts in a row - - usually because they're responding to separate posts in the thread, it seems, and I'm guessing most do it to keep the separate topics clear. But it bugs me, I wish they'd just use the quote function properly.

Is this something that's ok to report, or am I just being waaaay too weird about this? : ( I see it's listed as "Minor problem number 6" in the rules, but I just wanted to check.)

Multi-quoting does take a little bit of manual labor, so it is sometimes easier for people to just respond to each one individually. vBulletin 3.6 contains a multi-quote feature (tick off boxes for posts you want to reply to, then hit "reply"), so maybe people will start to use it once the new version is implemented. At the very least, it'll be easier to point them to an easy alternative to what they're doing.

Is there a "post has been reported" icon that can be shown so others are aware how many times a certain thread has been flagged?

Dang, stole my idea.

This would be very useful in my opinion.

multiple posts like this are against the rules but we tend to let them slide. i will sometimes delete them if they are really excessive, useless, quote long things without snipping them, or are from a poster who does it often. But I think I tend to be more harsh than the other mods
