Also, if the best way to keep the battery life up is to NOT drain fully and recharge fully each charge, then what is?

I picked my late 2008 MBP on the day they were released, 10/15. I have 127 cycles and the battery is at 98%. I do try to deplete the battery once a month and have it run all the way down once or twice a month.

I know, mine lasts 9 hours with the 9600 card running on full brightness, although Windows 7 only lasts 2.5 hours! So much for Windows 7's supposed better battery management. Some people with the 17" only get 6 or 7 hours so i think Apples using two manufacturers to make their 17" Unibody batteries.

13 days old but I have had it plugged in almost non stop the whole time, just calibrated the battery and used it without the plug a few times.

Now if only coconutbattery would show the correct age. My serial number is entered correctly. I see it's doing the same thing to others though.

Did you calibrate the battery when you bought it? and have you calibrated it every month since, as Apple recommend?
