"No escape from Reality...”
Here's a thread where you can post (with pics if you got 'em) cool old "finds" that you find in garage sales, resale shops, and from friends.

Let's keep it mainly to above - we know that there are tons on eBay. Let's see what people find for cheap elsewhere!

One person's junk is another person's treasure!

Okay not the best picture (kinda trying to be artsy)

The Macintosh Plus was given to me by a friend who's family wasn't using it anymore. The SE (on the Right) was abandoned by a school I setup a windows network in, I asked about it, and they said take it home :) .

Both are used for Vintage games, and slow scan picture slideshows :)

A few weeks ago....

From a local resale shop:

Claris MacPaint, complete in box, $1
Claris MacWrite II, box and manuals, only disk missing (but I have an original somewhere), $1

Hmm. I've got a couple oddball things I've found over the years.

Actual Apple-branded coaxial networking cable with boxes (I'll post them when I dig it out - maybe tomorrow). An Apple TechStep (wasn't a find, but a friend gave me it).

An Apple phone... well, okay, it's an Apple ISDN card with a phone handset, not some ancient iPhone. :p

I've also got some odd Apple made book on multimedia (it's pretty funny, actually). I've got a bunch of other odds and ends that I really want to start making pages for, but I just never have the time to completely redo my site.

Oh, one last thing. I also have a Microsoft made memory expansion board for Apple IIs. I'm not sure if it's worth anything though. I'll need to take some photos of that guy too.

It is a revision one (early) mac plus. If you do a google image search for mac plus you will see a few of these.

Here is a shot of the tag on the back of that system.

A beige Mac Plus! That's a rarity!

I don't think they are as rare as a working 128k is, however I know they are not too common. I am fortunate that I have it.

My other find is a Macintosh LC, with matching color monitor, and a PDS ethernet card already installed in it. This was actually my 3rd Macintosh and still in use today (quicken saving / play accounting computer).

I love LC's! An LC II was my second store purchase after my Classic.

Did you get the matching 12" color or 14" one? They both matched so perfectly...

pics?

I found this in a box of junk at a Salvation Army store, Im not sure if its all here but I think most of it is. It has the Cassette Tape, the Welcome to Macintosh, Software Sampler and a System Tools disks. And it has a pamplet called Wow. I didnt know I could do that! and the unpacking Guide and the fake Floppy to use when transporting the Macintosh. I think all that is missing is the Programers switch.

Does the pic say "Macintosh Plus"? It's a Mac Plus starter kit! Worth a lot of money to someone who is trying to assemble a Mac Plus complete in box!

BTW: the programmer's switch is probably on the Mac...

Yeah I was happy to find it, I agree about the programmers switch. I would like to find the original box and complete the set and yes its a Macintosh Plus.

Hey thanks for the link, that would be ok if he didnt want $14 to ship an empty :apple: box!

It's for the size and he'd have to fill it with something so it won't get crushed. I almost bought it but it does have one of the pics on the box side cut out... but reasonable.

Also, I don't have a Plus anyways....

I found a Performa 5270 in a ditch on the way home, so I balanced it on my bike and took it home.

Works great :apple:

wow good find. iirc the performa was the first computer i touched when i was a kid.

I once got a Newton Messagepad 120 from a swapmeet for free :). I sold it to one of my friends though so I can't get a picture of it. I've also gotten a portable 40GB external hard drive for free. (still sealed in a crushed box, but no damage to the hard drive.) I also got my speakers for free, the speakers are the Boston BA635, they sound pretty nice too. I've also gotten the projector and LCD used in the mod in my signature for free (minus the LCD power adapter). I just got tons of things for free :p. (I've also got many bowling balls like The One and bowling balls like that for free, but I've got too many of them to list)
