I'm a fan of the classic Vince Guaraldi Trio Christmas recording. One other album I really like is "Christmas Cookies: Jazz Treats for the Holidays" by Charles Bertini. If anybody likes jazz, this is a great collection of great jazz arrangements of Christmas classics.

Right now my favorite songs are:

The Knife - Christmas Reindeer
The LeeVees - Goyim Friends
The Ramones - Merry Christmas (I Don't Want To Fight)

Right now the standard TSO and Mannheim stuff is starting to sound a little stale to me, year after year after year. So last year I found a few new jazzy things on iTMS:

Dance of the Sugar-Plum Fairy and Arabian Dance (Nutcracker Suite) by Code Indigo
God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen by The Ramsey Lewis Trio

I also mix in TV-oldies like "Holly Jolly Christmas", "Silver and Gold" and "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch", as well as the "Charlie Brown Christmas" stuff.

But the most off-the-wall one I have is called "Let's Put the X Back in Christmas" by Candye Kane, which is a droll, only slightly naughty song about making Christmas whoopee. In front of a video camera.

No, really.

I love to listen to pretty much all the straight standards, classics and classical from Handel to Nat and Andy Williams and we make listening to the Boston Pops an annual event. Don't particularly care for the over arranged and schmultzy stuff. And I refuse to listen to three in particular. Simply Having A Wonderful Christmas Time, Merry Xmas (War Is Over) and The Twelve Days of Christmas. Other than those, I love the traditional Carols performed by choirs, orchestrated or sung by popular artists.

Burl Ives - Have A Holly Jolly Christmas and also the soundtrack for Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer with Burl Ives.

I listen to them both all year because they're that good!!!

Ludachrismas - best Christmas song EVER!
Thats not a typing error BTW, thats how the song's name is spelt :D

currently my favorite song is God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen by MercyMe

its an awesome song, has a little bit of carol of the bells thrown in, sweet

I loathe every tinsel-wrapped chord of every tinsel-wrapped Xmas tune... except Fairytale of New York: a christmas song I can listen to every day of the year, and probably will... :)

Benjamin Britten - Ceremony of Carols - "Balulalow" and "This Little Babe" in particular, but they're all beautiful and for me so evocative of a traditional Christmas. Free of anything even slightly commercial!
