I've had the main theme to "The Nutcracker" stuck in my head the past few days, and have been whistling it at school.

Consequently, everyone else has it stuck in their heads and I'm pretty hated.

My two favorite "albums" (I'm ooold!) are A Charlie Brown Christmas by the Vince Guaraldi Trio, and Christmas Island by Leon Redbone.

My favorite individual songs include "What Child is This?" by anyone with a good voice and who doesn't oversing it; "Christmas Time is Here" by Dianne Reeves; "Christmas in Hollis," by Run DMC; and "It Doesn't Often Snow at Christmas," by Pet Shop Boys.

I also like "Christmas Time in Hell," by the South Park guys, but that's for closer to Christmas when I'm sick of the normal songs.

The Christmas Song - Nat King Cole

Of course, there are the songs from the Christmas shows like Charlie Brown (Linus & Lucy), Little Drummer Boy, Frosty the Snowman (Jimmy Durante) and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (Have a Holly Jolly Christmas by Burl Ives).

Almost forgot one -- God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen by Barenaked Ladies & Sarah McLachlan.

Yeah, I'm old ;)

Okay, you guys are going to kill me.

The only Christmas album/song/CD/tape/anything I have ever bought is the *NSync Christmas album, Home for Christmas. The song: "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays." It was played in a store that I used to work at, and I got to know and like it then, and I haven't stopped. It's really a fun, non-traditional song.

can't believe nobody from the UK has mentioned Slade's "Merry Xmas everybody" and it's just been voted favourite christmas song in NME

Mine though has to be 2000 miles by the Pretenders.

Christmas Music

Right now, I am loving the new Sister Hazel Christmas album. It is called Santa's Playlist. Great songs, music and even a sense of humor.

Check it out on iTunes :D

What was the name of the Christmas song (sung by the creepy, aging rock star) in the movie "Love Actually"? That's been one of my Christmas favorites since that movie came out.

There are quite a few Christmas songs in love actually (can't believe I bother looking it up on IMDB) and the only one sung by somebody who could be described as an 'creepy, aging rock star' is "Christmas is all around" but the creep aging rock star is the well known actor Billy Nighy.

But as it's nearly Christmas I won't make a nasty remark about how bloody lazy you are having this unknown song that happens to be your favourite since the movie came out that you can't be bothered to find out the name of.

I'm so glad it is nearly Christmas--I would have hated to invoke the full extent of your wrath

'Merry Xmas Everybody' by Slade. That's pretty much the only Christmas song ever that I actually like. Except maybe some of the comedy ones like 'Proper Crimbo' by Bo Selecta or 'Don't Let The Bells End' by The Darkness, just cos they're funny (as far as I remember at least).

a two-disc set called The Night Before Christmas which has classics like "White Christmas" by Bing Crosby, "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee, "Feliz Navidad" by Jose Feliciano and Mel Tormé's version of "The Christmas Song"

I also own the two Christmas releases by Diana Krall, one by Holly Cole. I recently got Martina McBride's Christmas album, Smashed for the Holidays by Jacqui Naylor, the Acoustic Christmas release that has a number of the artists from Steve Vai's Favored Nations label and Merry Axemas, which is another Steve Vai involved project.

As far as specific songs there's
"Santa Claus is Coming to Town" by the Pointer Sisters
Run-D.M.C.'s "Christmas In Hollis"
"All I Want for Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey
"Santa Baby (Gimme Gimme Gimme)" by Willa Ford
"Rock You Hard This Christmas" by The Dan Band

Now I like the usual Christmas songs but I also enjoy the apathetic ones
Everclear's "i will be hating you for christmas"
Ramones' "Merry Christmas (I Don't Want To Fight Anymore)"
The Kinks' "Father Christmas"
John Lennon's "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)"

I have several Christmas albums and the only one I think is OK is Christina Aguilera's "My Kind Of Christmas".
