While I'm on the subject...
ABC Monday Night Football
AKA, "Are you ready for some football?" (I love this one because it's got
everyone from Harrison Ford to the Muppets in it. And this one is longer than the truncated version they use nowadays.)
NBC Sunday Night Football
What I really love about this one is that the senior production staff all gets their names in the opening credits in some
uber-creative ways. I work for a little cable TV outfit, and I've had my name on quite a few local shows, but in my field, seeing your name on a super-cool, nationally broadcast open like this is like dying and going to heaven.
Two things fascinate me about all of these opens. The first is that every single one of them is game-specific. That costs a lot of bucks, but obviously it's worth it, as it raises the fun factor by 1000%. It's impossible
not to get revved up for a game following one of these.
The second is the disparity of styles. "The NFL on CBS" is a straight-up, no-nonsense, hard-hitting sports anthem. "ABC (and ESPN) Monday Night Football" and "NBC Sunday Night Football", on the other hand, both invite you to party your ass off. One is hard-rockin', the other does it country-western.
And they're all equally cool.
