Nice, me too. I have sf3's for the iPod going to work and back on the train, and some grado SR-80s for when I have the time to enjoy the music. Both are great sounding and not to expensive. In fact!

Couldn't live without 'em since ten years or so! Extremely light (230 grammes) and comfortable wear. Crystal clear and pleasing sound. Impressive smooth and very well done basses.
Made for people who like to be able to hear some background noise while listening to music. Sold out and out of stock for some months now.

some of these headphones I'd worry about getting neck aches from.

Have you tried the reverse mod? Back when I had the UE S.f 5's, I switched the left and right channel cables and inserted the IEM's backwards. It resulted in a fuller sound, better fit, and a slimmer profile. You should try it some time.

I sure wish I had the time and cash to back to back test all of those headphones. I'm still leaning towards some AKG 701's ... but I'm interested in all of the ones you have.

So get 'em! I have the AKG K 501 for more than ten years (description and photo above) now. They are very often and busy in use - working and sounding like at the first day. The sound is reference class in almost all genres - mine is from classical/concert hall to electronic/ambient/trance. I am using them for music and video production too. I am working at TV and radio studios and all the sound engineers have AKG's on.
They are huge (not heavy) but the system with the self-balancing leather band is genious. After 30 seconds you've forgotten that you have headphones on! No pressure at all for hours! Even if you're wearing eyeglasses. You can dance with them as far the cable reaches but don't shake your head too much. Shake other parts of the body maybe ;-)

The Sony MDR-V700's will break on you in about a year and a half or two. The swivel starts to crack, and when it does they won't last too much longer. I have two pairs, both with duct tape holding them together
Don't get me wrong, they're great headphones, especially for DJing, but Sony really needs to make them out of a light metal so they don't break. But then I guess people wouldn't have a reason to buy new pairs...I think Im leaning towards getting some AKG K701's for music production, but Im still not sure what brand to go with for DJing...

I read about all of those problems in various reviews online before buying them in summer '05, but I decided to get them anyway because I'm very good at taking care of electronics. I figured that if I was careful, I wouldn't have any problems , and I haven't so far (knock on wood). It's my brother who always ends up breaking things, which is why he hasn't touched my headphones
Funny, I say All highs; All lows; Must be blows. Too me they have no mids.
I'm in the market for some noise cancelling phones for air travel. I travel about 60% and am tired of not being able to hear a movie or turning my podcasts up to an unhealth sound with my buds. Can someone recommend something other than the overpriced bose?

That was what things were like years ago with Bose. Loads of mids, nothing else, as they used mediocre quality one-way designs, which didn't produce any lows or highs. Things are of course different now, loads of bass, loads of treble, and nothing in the middle (which is the most important frequency range).

I have the Er-4P too. Too bad the bass is so horrible on them. Everything else is incredible though, so it completely makes up for it.
Bose QC3 & Shure MPA
I can now use my Bose QC3's with my iPhone with this adapter from SHURE...
The cord is extra long, and you have to get used to not hearing your own voice well while speaking, and lastly if you are in a noisy environment - you hear good because you have the noise canceling headphones on but your caller can hear all the background noise. Not ideal - but I'm glad I can use the QC3's with my iPhone!
