That is technically a love seat. It's 2 recliners with a remote compartment and cup holder in between. It came as a set of this love-seat plus a 3 seater sofa for $1700 (discounted price/No tax - Labor day special). I got it from Mor Furniture. It goes by the model name Brody in stores. Online it sells for $1199 plus tax and goes by the name Osborn =>http://www.morfurniture.com/detail.aspx?ID=060819060&CatID=60&Group=17

I added some more stuff to my Home Theater.
* A Glass/Wooden/Copper Coffee table.
* PS3: Cold Neon side tube side / vertical illuminated stand.
* Backlighting of the TV:
=> There are 3 sets of lights.
# Cold cathode tubes - Blue(top), Green(bottom), White (sides)
# A sound trigger circuit controls the Ambiance light intensity based on the ambient sound. :cool:
# A resistor circuit can switch light intensity independent of ambient sound

im going to add a "ambilight" to the tv next week.. waiting for the amazon package :(

I love it except I couldn't deal with Blue+Green, If I were you I'd go with all blue, I don't mean to nit-pick other than that I wish I had it! (Well minus the PS3 but to systems to each their own :p)

Thanks. I agree, my gf wanted a tinge of green towards the base. It looks very strong here since the light was close to the base earlier. I too am more a fan of all blue/white. Thats why I have all of it controlled by switches. So I can have any combination of Blue/Green/White. :D

im trying it with Philips LightStrip.. i just ordered one of them and im very excited how it will look.. if it works well with this lightstrip i will order some more..

you are using cold cathode tubes? i was looking for the same thing but i dont find'em for a living room.. just those tubes for pc-modding :/

That setup is beautiful... the only major thing I can see to change, would be to run your wiring behind that entertainment center. The wires exiting the TV are very distracting and take away from the theme you're trying to acheive.

The TV should look like it's floating there. Other than that, absolutely beautiful!

The ambient lighting effect is very cool. I don't suppose you could post some links for the rest of us with some places where that stuff can be purchased? The fact that the intensity is controlled by the audio is particularly interesting to me. Any help would be great! Thanks, man.

You should post a picture of all blue/white sides I think that would look so awesome, especially because you have a lot of glowing blue electronics too.

@tr0jan: It would be interesting to see how it looks when you are done with the setup. Please do post some snaps in the dark with the TV on/off.

@ fivepoint, Rhosfelt: Yes, as tr0jan rightly guessed, I am using PC-modding Cold Cathode tubes. I started reading about backlighting from avsforums but then decided to try these tubes. I suppose it worked out well !
I'm powering them all with a spare external HDD enclosure which comes with a Molex connector.
I got the blue and green ones from Monoprice
Then I bought another set from Xoxide.
I have noticed that the ones from monoprice are brighter than the ones from Xoxide.

There's this Cold Neon tube (check out its video on the product page) on the side of the PS3 and the bottom is fitted with an Intec glow stand. Then there are Sound reactive cathodes fitted behind the TV.
Check out how they look on Youtube. They are not the best in terms of smooth gradient switching based on sounds but not that bad for just $6.

I would post some more snaps of different lighting combinations. The setup I have allows switching any tube to either sound reactive or resistance based output. So I can set any 2 tubes to react to sound and control the intensity of of the remaining tubes to the desired level (fixed non-reactive to sound)
Yes, I do love blue/white lighting a lot !! :p

Kind of depends on what 5.1 Standard you refer to, though. ITU and AES and others have very different opinions on what angles your L&R and LS&RS should be at.

All personal preference, of course. :)

True. I was really referring to the placement of the center channel speaker. Most people I see have it pointing at their feet or firing over their heads. I guess I should of been more to the point :eek:

Hey hey now, don't leave out the people that put the centre channel to the left or right of the display, and what about the ones that have one main speaker next to the display and the other several feet away from the display?:p

You guys should check out this system from Samsung. Not only is there a huge ugly box that comes with it. But check out the third picture they have. Look at where the center channel is placed! On top of the sub, to the side.

It's hilarious! 5.1 only works when they're in the right place, ya know? I remember seeing a friends setup with their satellite speakers and one was directly behind the couch with the other back on a kitchen counter, so they could listen while cooking. ::gasp::
