Do you have any pics of how this was all setup? Maybe of the build process? More specs on the PC as well? Thanks.. it's a beautiful setup. I'd like to show the wife this and sometime in the near future have something like what you've setup. The accessories complete the setup, almost like an old movie house.. I'd add one of those classic popcorn machines too. 🙂
How things used to be. Just running plain old stereo now with what were the rear speakers, my DM303s.
Not like that any more, most of that gear's in the studio. The front speakers are now rear speakers...

In all honesty, the build process was fairly simplistic. The ceilings are Drop Ceilings (It is a basement in case that wasn't obvious) and so wire running was fairly easy. I planned out what I wanted in terms of technology, and then planned out in terms of that. I decided I wanted to max out the inputs for my projector so I ran a 25ft DVI cable, component cable, composite cable, and s-video cable, just in case. 25 ft worked well and I ran it across the ceiling and down the wall to the stand under the TV. The Speakers were wired the same way, and then run through the ceiling and down the wall. The screen is held up with several very strong lag bolts. I got a $20 mount from eBay made for my projector and simply mounted it in place. I got my mom to decorate it and pick out all the accessories etc, because that really isn't my thing, I'm more of a technology and get-your-hands-dirty-guy 😉. The mural on the wall is actually like 12 strips of wallpaper that my mom put up. I don't know how she does it, because I can't see the seams and everyone that sees it seems to think that it was painted.
The PC has some very modest specs, and because it is a PC, I don't use it that often, but it's nice if i have something on my main machine and want to stream it down there, it has the following specs:
1.7Ghz Athlon XP Mobile
Large Copper Heatsink so it says cool and quiet
Dual Layer DVD Burner
512MB RAM
Radeon 9600
80GB Hard drive
Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
And xp media runs just fine on it, you really don't need a lot of grunt. Then again, I'm not using the box as a DVR, and I'd recommend something a bit faster (2.2Ghz+) if you wanted to handle more then just one Low-def recording.

I'm about to buy a new receiver and speakers and was wondering if anyone owned a nad or cambridge audio receiver or possibly some magnepan speakers and either really liked or hated them

Is it just me or do u have wired 360 controllers? For that kind of set up why would you? only makes you sit close and awkward..... 😕
what people from the south can't have nice things??? whats your point? In my opinion, the architecture of the south pretty much dominates all else in the US as I have lived pretty much everywhere
Not really... it's just that the proportion of hicks is just as high in Georgia (if not higher) as in North Carolina. Having a Georgian imply that people from North Carolina can't have well-furnished condos is kinda like the pot callin' the kettle black. 😉
Nope they are attached to charge and play kits while not it use to recharge the battery packs. They are wireless controllers for playing.
