I have so many questions about projectors and not sure if this is the right place to come but ill give it a shot.

Is it worth it to buy a projector instead of a TV? I was going to buy a new LED one in about a year. But have always wanted a projector.

my main worry is about how long they last until replacing the blub... my TV is on A LOT

also i want to be able to hook up multiple hmdi's (my mbp, my xbox, my cable, and anything else that's needed maybe 1 more) will i get the same resolution through my MBP through another connection to play 1080p movies i downloaded? that's my main source.. my externals and TV.

my price for a TV was no more than $2000 and thats pushing it waaay over the limit. can someone help me?

B&W, Emotiva. Classic.

refurbed theatre room.

It's been a while so I thought I would post a update after I refurbed my room, new front end, paint job and carpet.

How much did it cost you to mkae that theater?

No Illusions

My humble attempt to build a "home theater" got a lot more interesting since my new TV arrived this week. Just watched Tangled in 3D and I was blown away by the 3D effects (and the plasma picture quality - way better than my 2 year old Sony LCD). I saw a 3D demo in the shops and was a little disappointed - but at home under the right conditions - very nice.

TV :: Samsung PS51D550 (PN51D550 -> US Version) :: BluRay :: Panasonic DMP-BDT 110 :: Console :: XBox 360 Slim 4G w/ 120G HDD

Does anybody have any recomendations for either buying or piece mealing a 5.1 system? I need to be educated.

OK, here's mine... posted it before, but not all in one place. Bear in mind that much of this equipment is SIX years old... it was state-of-the-art when bought and still kicks ass.

Runco PL-50c 50" plasma TV
M&K 750THX 6.1 speakers (6 speakers + subwoofer)
Sony 400 DVD changer + Sony LocationFree TV base station
B&K AVR-307 AV receiver
Sony DVP-S9000ES reference DVD player
Runco controller box (recently replaced with a Zektor HDS 4.1 component switching box)
Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD HD DVR cable box
Mitsubishi S-video VCR (kept only for emergencies... I have no VHS tapes)
Roku PhotoBridge
Monster power controller
Xbox 360
Panja Viewpoint remote control system

The track lighting makes it look really nice!

The walls are dark green with ceiling dark brown, since we live in a loghome I tried to keep the nature theme going in the HT.
Used stained pine for baseboard and acoustic treatments.

View of 130" scope screen, manual 16:9 masks are stored below center speaker when not used as seen here:
(Panorama stitching via CS5 made the ceiling acoustic clouds looked curved, they are flat...)

If you don't mind me asking. How much did you pay for such a setup?

Moved since I last posted, pretty much the same equipment. Rear speakers aren't mounted because I am going to get different ones.

And yes, new carpet will be installed soon...
