perhaps, as a consumer, that is a good policy.

if you're trying to sleuth out information that is deliberately being withheld then it starts to break down as a logical policy.

Well true. If I were a Wall Street analyst and therefore getting paid for my sleuthing, I'd do it. As it is, not worth it to me. :)

I have a strict rule with websites: if you can't give me the information I need on the site, I'm going somewhere else. Calling is so '90s.

I think Apple shares your viewpoint.

Recently, I had a question regarding iCloud. I went on the website, couldn't get the info I needed, noted the phone number for support, called it, and heard, "Thank you for calling Apple. For assistance, please log on to www.apple.com. Thank you. (click)".

hi all,

since this morning Apple Store Canada does not have any iMacs on stock.

Until yesterday all models were on stock and BTO models required 2-4 business days.

Today all iMacs are 1-2 business days and BTO are 2-4.

May mean sth, may not.

Just informing the public.

Next time I'm not waiting

If there's one thing I've learned, next time I decide to buy an Apple product... I'll buy it the day I decide I need it. I had the order screen filled out in January for a new iMac. Then I did it again in March and didn't pull the trigger either time. Decided to wait at the last minute twice. If I had just ordered it in January like I intended to, I would have saved myself a lot of anxiety. Not to mention a lot of the work I'll be working on all summer (hopefully) would be done right now :(

Congratulations on your purchase! What configuration did you end up getting?

iMac in Oz

Just to test build and shipping times in Australia I spec'd up a iMac 27 with i7. The estimated shipping time was 1-3 days but the expected delivery date was 14 or 15th June. Is this a hint?

I am hoping to buy my first mac soon! Once the new iMac is released that is.

All computers in the Canadian store have 1-2 day delivery times, so the delay may signify something other than an imminent release of new iMacs.

the max delay for the 27" iMac i see so far in the Canadian store is 2-4 business days. could that mean that the macs are getting refreshed on May 29? ;D

I don't understand how there are absolutely no rumours about forthcoming iMacs anywhere on the Internet. MR and 9to5 both have numerous stories about IOS and Stock Prices. They even have pictures of parts of the forthcoming iPhone 5.

If there really is to be a refresh soon then why is it so quiet? I am desperate for some news because I badly need an update and I really don't want to buy 2011 technology for the same price as the newest model (if and when it arrives).

maybe there is something that we don't know..
don't you remember?some years ago
there was a site closed for its rumors ...
this year Cook said that
"let me tell you, I am extremely confident in our future. The pipeline is full of stuff. And I think our customers are going to be incredibly pleased with what they see coming out.”
http://www.idownloadblog.com/2012/03/19/apple-has-a-pipeline-full/

so what it speaks its not what we "ear"...
but actually the silence around new Macs today
.....
..."incredibly pleased"....
i hope WWCD won't fail with my expectations..

Same in Sweden. No models in stock, 1-2 days delivery for standard models.
Also same for The Netherlands. However, on monday is a national holiday in NL, can that explain the longer delivery time? (I know they are talking in business days)

Update: every single product on the Apple website has a delivery of 1-2 business-days (macbooks pro / air, mini, imac, pro's).

In Anandtech's latest review of ASUS ultrabook utilising the Ivy bridge dual-core low votage chip, he made mention of something peculiar that could explain why all the OEMs haven't been able to release their machines until late May:

"The circumstances around today's launch are a bit peculiar. Intel has an embargo in place on the as of yet unreleased Ivy Bridge CPUs, this applies to both notebooks and desktops"

Could it be that embargo is what has been holding Apple back from unveling its new machines? Does that mean we're now getting closer?

the 1-2 business days delay is on the entire product line. It has nothing to do with the iMac. I´m sure in a couple of days its back to In Stock again.

We´re not seeing anything new within the next few weeks/months....move along

Seeing were 2 weeks away i checked shipping again and stock. same story-
imac is running low in a lot of retailers, also BTO times fluxuate. 2-4 day change on storage. 16GB ram

Mbp is 1-3 as usual
