You know the great thing about the pano feature in iOS 6? Less food shots! I love seeing peoples' cities.

Here's a quick and shot vertical one from Umstead Park today. Hard to do one handed, vertical, and with a dog pulling the crap out of you because she is bored. Quality suffers, well and I'm just a poor photographer!

University of Dayton football game. While I'm not a UD fan at all (I'm a Michigan fan, Go Blue!), I was invited to the game and I took the opportunity to try out the pano while I was there. Click on the pic for full 6608 x 2508 resolution.

Balloon glow "flicker burn" in Albuquerque
8086810412_10c96bfcff_b.jpg

What's happening here is a flicker burn. The balloon pilots rapidly turn their burners on and off to make the row of balloons appear to twinkle in the night.

The lights were changing as I was holding the camera and it occurred to me to see what would happen if I paused for a moment during the panoramic sweep motion. I was expecting the balloons to be completely lit up throughout the image (which is what a DSLR would do as its shutter remains open) but not in this case, so some strips of balloon show up dark.

This picture revealed to me an interesting aspect of the panorama feature. The camera is constantly recording images and only adds to the panorama the last bit of the scene that is seen before the camera moves away.

Try waving your hand in front of your phone while taking a panorama, hold still and then lower your hand before moving on, and you should see what I mean.

Still, a really cool shot...

Hmmm...so I guess the horizon rising is due to the fact that you didn't follow the horizon line perfectly on the phone? Still playing around with it. Hard to follow the line while looking what you are photographing....guess I should just follow the line.
