My iPad Air has been laggy when typing in messages on boards like MR and I haven't even upgraded to iOS 8. I type letters and nothing appears until I hit the space bar at the end of a word, at which point the entire word appears. It's odd and frustrating because that's hardly the experience I've come to expect from Apple products.

This really sucks now. You have to tap the top to get your bookmarks bar to show once you've been scrolling. And you can't entirely X out all your tabs. One page must remain active. Wtf? Also I have popups blocked and for the first time ever today I got a screen ad to take over while browsing the site Daily Mail online.

You need to use the icon in the upper right like that looks like the multi-page thing from iPhone and iPod touches. Then you can hit the x or just swipe the page away.

Favourites

Can anybody tell me if it is possibe to stop the side bar with the favourites coming up every time I press the favourites tab. I am sure that it was not like this before the update. You just pressed the tab at the top of the page and a drop down menu appeared.

I've finally answered my own poll with a definitive yes. My experiences with Safari after a weekend of heavy use was much better. I didn't experience any crashes or resets over the weekend and tab reloading wasn't so bothersome. I did experience some general weirdness from time to time like tabs not loading up or overall slowness. It was more of an annoyances than a full show stopper. In my mind iOS 8 is what iOS 7 should have been at release. Apple should have taken a little more time and polished up iOS 7 before dumping it on the market. I believe iO8 is lacking innovation because they had to clean up the mess iOS 7 left behind.

Updated my rMini. It's OK, but a couple annoyances. First, a lot of my bookmark icons on the home screen went to some generic geometric icon. Some came back after opening, some never did. Next, several of my home-ripped movies lost the "DVD cover" that I added. No big deal, they still play, but miss the covers. Finally, a game or two simply does not work.

I kinda regret updating to iOS8 on my Air. Although i love the new features and tab reloading is greatly improved, the wifi issues really make me frustrated at times. There are also some glitches here and there but they dont bother me nearly as much as the wifi thing.

Why limit this conversation to just the Air and Retina Mini?

On my first gen Mini, I thought Safari was much better....

...until I tried replying to a forum post. I'd get through typing about 1/2 of my post, then the screen would lock up completely. I hit the home button, and try to open Safari again and it shows me a static image of how Safari looked when I first started the browsing session (e.g. hours ago. different tabs, etc...). Of course, it was a static image so I couldn't do anything but kill Safari completely and re-open. The correct tabs would then reload, and I'd try write my post again only to find the same problem. This happened about 7 times 2 days ago and haven't tried again since. All other browsing has been fine though.

The first gen Mini is essentially an ipad2, spec-wise. If the ipad2 is struggling on ios8, any reason to believe why the iPad mini would behave differently?
