Are there any other cases like Pitaka ones for this as they don't make one for this phone

I have a question for you, iPhone 16e owners: does the 16e screen go as low in brightness as the iPhone 16? Because iPhone 16 introduced as a feature, having a screen that can go as low as to 1 nit. Is the 16e screen able to do it as well?

According to Apple the 16e doesn’t go down to 1 nit. I don’t know how low it goes, but it’s difficult to see on the lowest setting in the dark šŸ˜„

On the other hand, the minimum brightness we measured on the iPhone 16e with a white text patch was 2 nits, which is excellent.

Yeah, his evening I stopped by a shop to compare an iPhone 16 to a 16e side by side. While the conditions weren’t the best in order to compare, due to the store’s illumination, I was able to compare them side by side at the minimum brightness and, yes, the 16e was a tad brighter but the difference wasn’t big.

Thank you for the link and the quote.

Wow, you have such a privileged view where you live, if you live nearby.

But also, your pictures are stunning. Are they all made with the iPhone 16e? If so, despite lacking the body shift sensor optical stabilisation, they look astounding. Maybe they use the same sensor as the main iPhone 16 camera, but with different optics? I don’t know.

The pictures look impressive. Have you used any software to tweak them? If so, do you still use Snapseed for it? Or another Lightroom-like app?

I think Apple should really implement a powerful post-processing software integrated with the native photos app… hopefully with the purchase of Pixelmator developer studio they will make this a reality for iOS 19 or 20. Fingers crossed šŸ¤žšŸ»

@Populus thank you, that place is about 10 mins away from me.

The 16e has a great camera! It’s certainly impressed me and some other people.

The lack or sensor shift stabilisation is no big deal imo. The standard optical image stabilisation works just fine.

Sometimes the photos need no editing or post processing to improve them. Sometimes I use Snapseed if I want to create a more arty and impressive look (especially for my Instagram) and other times I may use iOS photo app tools.

All in all I still love my 16e after very nearly 2 months now ā¤ļø

From the GSM Arena article above:

Apple doesn't make a big deal of the camera's specs, so it's clear that they don't have stuff to brag about. The focal length and aperture that are listed clearly indicate that it's not the same 48MP main camera that you'd find on the iPhone 16 Pros (of course).

The focal length and aperture are a match for the regular 16's main camera, but the type of focusing isn't - the 16 uses '100% Focus Pixels', while the 16e makes do with 'Hybrid Focus Pixels', and the 16 has sensor-shift stabilization, while the 16e's is lens-based.

All this points to the 16e using the same sensor as the one found on the 16 Pro's ultrawide camera - a 48MP imager with 'Hybrid Focus Pixels'. Through the power of deduction, we arrived at a 1/2.55" optical format for that sensor back when we reviewed the 16 Pros, coming from its nominal resolution and 0.7µm pixel size. Here, however, it's paired with a 26mm-equivalent focal length lens as opposed to the 13mm one on the Pros' ultrawides. It checks out, plus it's typical Apple to reuse and repurpose already available bits.

The photos without editing look great!

Yep. I’ve said that sometimes (maybe a lot of the time) that the photos need no editing.

The only one I’d edit in that set would be to lift the shadows in the last one with the sun behind the tree.

The lighting was stunning during the golden hour before sunset yesterday evening, and the 16e captured it well.

I just discovered the 16e doesn’t support DisplayPort alt mode through the USB-C port.

If Apple finally enables a way to use the iPhone connected to an external monitor in a ā€œdocked modeā€ on iOS 19 or 20, I think I’ll want to have that DisplayPort capability on my iPhone…

I was thinking about getting the iPhone 17e or maybe even the 18e once it gets the jump to 2nm, but if this feature is still missing… maybe I’ll want a full fledged iPhone 17 or 18.

However, if you don’t care about this possible, hypothetical feature, then enjoy, the 16e is a great value.
