I have a couple screenshots of my phone hitting the 20% warning with:
Usage 2 Hours, 37 Minutes
Standby 7 Hours 33 Minutes

That's with 3G and Wifi on. But still... That's kinda crazy. I don't know if this is normal, but when I'm on Edge and I talk on the phone, I lose about 1% every 2 minutes. That gives me about 3 Hours and 20 Minutes. Something is SERIOUSLY wrong with that. The specs say I should be getting up to 10 hours. Also, when I plug in my phone it'll go from 20% to 60% charge in just over 10 minutes. I don't think it charged that fast when I first got it.

I took it to the Genious bar when I was still covered by Apple Care and the guy just told me that it was normal.

I'll tell you something, I have NEVER had my phone last me a whole day. Even with minimal use. Somehow it finds a way to die. I went to sleep with my phone next to me at 40% once and woke up to find it totally dead...

The genius told me the same thing when I brought my phone in because of the battery. My battery life was better than yours (and yours is terrible, seriously - you deserve a replacement) as it performs at about 50% of the battery life rating. No one should expect exactly the same battery life as advertised, but there is a certain threshold of reason and I don't consider 50% performance within reason. Yours is even less than that, and Apple Geniuses are considering this normal? I am going to be writing an Apple executive about this.

I can't believe you guys are still speculating whether or not it's true! It was a joke. I guess I didn't make it crazy enough? I tried making it as hard to believe as possible.
 
My Battery Life......take two!!!!

Alright, decided I give it another test and try to post my battery life.

Usage:
About 2 hours of talk time
Heavy texting usage,email,web browsing,facebook app,myspace app, ebuddy app, PW torch app and about an hour of using remote.

My Settings are:
WIFI ON
3G ON
Auto Brightness ON
Ask to join Wifi OFF
5 Email accounts all using fetch every 15 min
3 Apps using Push Notification

I just drove home from work and in 30 minutes of standby my phone dropped 4%... That gives me a whopping 12 hours of standby time if multiplied out!!! Lucky me...

Almost all of the usage was watching The Office today while at work, plus some email checking, some Photobucket & Facebook app usage, and a minor amount of web browsing. Email's set to push every 15 minutes & my screen brightness is at probably 75% or so (I'd like to have it be lower, but I did have it set at 100% so pretty much everything else looks dark as hell now). The time it was plugged in since the last charge was about 2 minutes to sync before I left the house this morning.
 
Right now I'm at 67% - 3 hours 57 minutes usage. 21 Hours 35 Minutes Standby.

My 3G S' battery is MUCH better than my old 3G's :D
 
I think the new 3.0.1 update has improved my battery performance. I usually go down to 99% almost instantly now it takes 3 or so minutes of usage for me to get there. Overall I'm at 72% with about 2 hrs of usage and 14 hours standby. I'm not saying that's amazing or anything but it is certainly better performance than I had before. Somone on the update thread noticed increased battery life as well. Something to look out for.
 
Well Mine is horrible. I had 2 iphones that went back to the store for having NO battery life, now the 3rdphone I have is really bad, if I use the phone Ill get like 2 hours out it and when fully charged if I dont turn it on in 24 hours, when i do turn it on it is dead!
 
I guess ill post mines aswell, please gived your thoughts

i have all the extras turned off. only wifi on. one email account fetch per hour

about 30 min of talk time, a few txt, 45 mins of wifi browsing, 30 mins of app use

i just hit 20%
i have 4 hour of usage and
1 day 14 hour standby

how does that look? worth taking it back?

bull ****. In your first screenshot where the phone was actually plugged in you didn't even make a day n a half. Now without plugging in your phone and even more usage as u claim you make it to over 2 days?

My battery is screwed. Charged it up to 100% before bed and it was at 100/99%. Woke up 8 hours later - it's at 67%. Neat huh. Excellent standby time. :rolleyes:

I received 3 emails and 1 call (earlier this morning). Nothing else. I really don't understand how one day the phone only goes down 10% in standby and a week later it goes down 30% in standby. Someone please explain that to me.

EDIT: decided to make a genius appointment and go from there. This is all starting to piss me off now.
 
Just left the apple store. Bunch of idiots. My average usage time is 54 minutes. Average standby time, 12 hours. He rcommended I turn off 3g and wifi. I was like are you serious. You sell and advertise a phone and better battery life and your telling me to turn OFF the phone features beacuse of crap battery life.

You should have gotten a new phone. Those usage times are terrible. Even if you turn all of the stuff on you should have better tines than an hour.

Dude......I can care less what you think....I'm telling you after charging the battery almost every other day...these are the results that I can come up with...working currently on another TEST to see if I can get the same results or better this time. Plus as u can see, the last screenshot it showed a usage of 7 hours...this time only a bit over 6 1/2 hours
