How did you change your icon theme w.o winterboard?

Thats the files unpacked. I got that and I edited what I neededfpr transparent status bar. But there is not currently a way to repack the files to use without winterboard.
Yes, that is the "old news". If you want to change anything in UIImages you have to use WinterBoard.

A lot of research?? More like common knowledge in the community. Use this as a search string on Google:

UIImages "iPhone 4"

Second hit.....

No need to be a dick dude. Took me over 3 hours to figure all that out. I didnt even know what UIImages was before that. I was searching "iPhone 4 transparent status bar" and stuff similar to that. At least I didnt start a new thread asking about it.

Then don't make it sound like you made some incredibly discovery.......

S-

Maybe you read to much into it. I was just sharing what I know, so that way no one else wastes their time. Maybe you should have spoken up when I was asking about it a few days ago so I wouldn't waste my time.
2. No problem should ever have to be solved twice.

Creative brains are a valuable, limited resource. They shouldn't be wasted on re-inventing the wheel when there are so many fascinating new problems waiting out there.

To behave like a hacker, you have to believe that the thinking time of other hackers is precious — so much so that it's almost a moral duty for you to share information, solve problems and then give the solutions away just so other hackers can solve new problems instead of having to perpetually re-address old ones.

Note, however, that "No problem should ever have to be solved twice." does not imply that you have to consider all existing solutions sacred, or that there is only one right solution to any given problem. Often, we learn a lot about the problem that we didn't know before by studying the first cut at a solution. It's OK, and often necessary, to decide that we can do better. What's not OK is artificial technical, legal, or institutional barriers (like closed-source code) that prevent a good solution from being re-used and force people to re-invent wheels.

(You don't have to believe that you're obligated to give all your creative product away, though the hackers that do are the ones that get most respect from other hackers. It's consistent with hacker values to sell enough of it to keep you in food and rent and computers. It's fine to use your hacking skills to support a family or even get rich, as long as you don't forget your loyalty to your art and your fellow hackers while doing it.)

You people hating on winterboard sound like people who hate on jailbreaking in general.

I've got 2 iPhone 4's with winterboard, and 2 without (all jailbroken).

Speed difference? NONE.

Some of you are using way buggier programs like iconoclasm and lockinfo.

Both of which suck on i4's more than winterboard.

when i had winterboard installed, my home button lagged so much. might just be me. im not hating on winterboard, i just prefer not to use it.

or is there a way to get rid of the dock without winterboard?:(

Look for the SBDockBG@2x.png in your springboard.app folder and make it transparent using a photo editing program. Make a backup file before over writing this file, respring and you wont see the dock.

hope this helps

edit: I've attached the file just in case you want to use it. It's transparent so you cant see it, right click and save to your desktop.

1. I don't see the correlation between hating on Winterboard and hating on jailbreaking in general.

2. I've used Winterboard on a 3g and a 3GS, Winterboard slowed my 3g, not so bad on the 3gs, but still slowed my iPhones. I don't know what it's like using it with the iPhone4 and I really don't care. I choose not to use it.

If you're happy with Winterboard, then use it. No need to get all fussy about people who choose not to use it.

How did you change your icon theme w.o winterboard?

I used iconoclasm for circle shape

I used infinidock for 5 icon dock and have 5 more icons to the left.

And to delete icon names I used file and manually deleted them in the app it's called CFBundle name

I think I see some Winterboard here.

And for the person that wanted to know how to change icons without Winterboard, just changed them in the apps and respring the springboard. (I miss the 1.x.x days... Less noobs)

No Winterboard - put in Suave Icons via SSH for the icons on the homepage and dock - apps in folders are still default - using the following

- Five Column Springboard
- GridLock for the spacing (used to use iblank)
- HTC Lockinfo plug-in for time, weather widget
- Fake Carrier for Apple Sign where time was
- 5 Icon dock
- SSH transparent dock
- Changed name of BiteSMS to Messages via iFile

Here is my updated screen - I do have Winterboard installed but nothing in effect right now. I'd like to abandon it, but there are a couple things I don't know how to do without it that I like to have in effect from time to time - Clear Lockscreen 4.0 and sometimes I like to have folders with no border and clear background - if someone can tell me how to do those without Winterboard I'd uninstall it.

Lockinfo on the Springboard? I didn't think that was possible at all. I know you can get weather and the such on the SB with Winterboard and as far as I know only by using Winterboard. Also the little home page icon. That can only be done with Winterboard.

Wrong. Lockinfo has options for Lockscreen, Homescreen, and Infoshade (a pull down "Shade" view from the status bar). And also puts in the home page icon. No Winterboard required.

Hi Sir,

I'm wondering if you would kindly give me a link to a zip with the following:

1) Your phone, messaging, settings, safari etc that are on your home screen.

2) Also i like how you changed that first screen dot to a home screen. how did you do that? is it an image? if so can you include it in the zip and give me to the location?

I would really appreciate it,

Thanks
AE

You can get the icons via this link

http://suavehd.xengi.org/

Then either download the theme or just the icons and SSH them into your phone, replacing icon@2x.png in the /var/stash/Applications/Mobile Safari (or Preferences after Applications for settings) folder with the new icon also named icon@2x.png. I change the name of the default to icon@2x_default.png, then can easily change back when you want just by changing the file names. All the icons you asked about are Suave HD icons.

The home screen dot, you have to download Lockinfo from cydia, and enable it for "Homescreen" - see my screenshot in my last post in this thread for how your settings should read to have the Home page icon. I believe it's Page Indicator set to on that enables this.
