For 10 metres? Bargain! Consider yourself lucky that you don’t need a regular mains cable...

Good to hear. I am not expecting any issues, been driving a mercedes for years, so this is just a step up in size.. We'll see! Also having the 300d (239bhp) should be enough to make it bearable for daddy ;)

It's been an expensive week!

  • Turbo Boost up to 4.8GHz
  • AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with 4GB of GDDR6 memory
  • 16GB 2666MHz DDR4 memory
  • 1TB SSD storage

A shade sail, a bunch of fittings to hang it, and a 100m (~328ft) role of wire rope. I figured I might need a few meters of the wire rope to get the sail centered/adjusted to the right location between the fixture points, and the rest would be handy for other projects. So far I've ended up using <checks notes> 2.8m (~9ft), and it's probably too heavy gauge for one other use I had planned (a wet weather clothes line under the carport).... I guess I could make the worlds longest dog leash.

Oh and 2 sets of 15m (49ft) outdoor lighting 'strings' to hang over the garden near the pool.

It’s my Mum and Dads birthdays next week. But I’ll not be buying them an iPad! Very generous of you.

I bought my parents an iMac as a Christmas present many years ago (maybe 10? It's an Intel one but an early Intel one). This may seem very generous but I was fed up supporting their rubbish Windows desktop. I've not had to support this Mac in at least 10 years. It still works and does what they want. It's been a great investment!

She uses it for her emotional health as much for pleasure, so it is worth it. I wish she would have taken mine, but she hates the space gray.

Now I know to buy future generations of the iPad with white fronts just in case. That way I can just swap out and I’ll replace mine when they are on sale.

Happy early birthday to your parents. 🥳

I know what you mean! My dad asks for help with his android phone (which I’ve never owned), usually whilst I’m driving! Every time he upgrades I tell him to buy an iPhone. Every year he doesn’t!

And to yours. We do it the other way. I buy a new one for Mrs AFB and I get the old one.
We don’t really celebrate birthdays in our family. I’ve not seen either of my parents in a few years.

I try to do that too, give mom the older tech, but mom hates black. The nice thing is this iPad is now a present from all of mom’s kids (spent the same amount on mom’s medications and groceries this week - which is fine - but I thought mom would accept this more graciously if it came from all of us.) She did.🥳

LoL about your dad’s phones... hope he converts eventually.

@soulreaver99 nice! Enjoy it.

Me too. But at his age I think he’s stuck in his ways. He’s even worse on a PC. I once spent 30 minutes trying to start a teamviewer session with him!
