Post Your Last Purchase XXVIII

I spent what little money I had on the body so no glass yet. I was thinking of getting the 85 1.8G as my first lens then a 70-200 2.8/4 sometime later on.
I have the 70-200 2.8 which is a beautiful lens (if a bit heavy). All depends on what you plan to shoot. 85 1.8g is a great portrait lens. There's likely to be a new 70-200 out soon, so my advice would be pick up one of the older ones second hand. That's how I got most of my pro glass (see signature).

Quite the week of purchases, but definitely an improvement over my previous setup.

  • Samsung KS8000 60" 4KUHD - HDR Display
  • Yamaha Receiver 5.1 (Open Box at BestBuy $230, normally $279.)
  • Klipsch R-15M (Pair) NFM had them marked down to $159 so I jumped on the deal, normally $250.
  • Xbox One S Madden Bundle (For the 4K Blu Ray player and 4K/HDR gaming)
  • Batman vs Superman UHD.

How does your Xbox one s work playing 4K BD?? I bought one (already have an Xbox one) thinking it would be the best bet for a 4K bd player. Well, I was wrong....it had major handshake issues with my Vizio M70-d3. Returned and picked up the philips player and so far so good. No problems for your setup??

I'm going to use it mainly for HS sports, basketball, volleyball, wrestling and if I ever get another chance, NYO. Is your 70-200 VRI or II? Have you used both versions? if so which one is better with the D750 at focussing in regards to speed and accuracy?

Mines the VR II. I've not used the other.
Speed and accuracy are both excellent. The weakest link in my photography is me!
Renting glass is a good way to see if it fits your usage. With the exception of my 105 macro, 200-500 mm tele and 50 mm 1.8 prime, all my glass was second hand. I was fortunate to be able to buy it through work at a fraction of its true value.

start of new school year, i thought i'd treat myself for some ink. got this one, and i am VERY DISPLEASED with it. i heard a lot of good things about this ink so I'm ver disappointed. feathering is insane, letters come out too thick... i use the same paper (80gsm and higher) for all my writing and never had such bad performance :(

My Bose QC15's are getting a bit long in the tooth now so time for an upgrade to the QC35's was thinking of the QC25's but with the iPhone 7plus wireless is the natural choice.

I've been doing research on these. The Volume on the BOSE QC 25's are lower than the average headphones. Did BOSE fix this issue with the BOSE Quiet Comfort 35's?

A new suitcase; normally, I buy Samsonite, - and have found them very good, but this time, I decided to buy a suitcase by the German company Hartmann.
Sorry to break it to you, but Hartmann are an American company. I think Wisconsin. They were setup by someone from Germany though, that is the connection. Good luggage though.

Well, I first came across references to them on Lufthansa's in flight magazines, some time ago.

Moreover, colleagues recommended them highly, and certainly, the Germans seem to regard them as 'German' - there was no mention in any German source I have read of any US connection; I believe that they were founded in Germany, sometime in the nineteenth century.

For me, the build quality, - I travel a lot - and the ten year guarantee are major attractions.

But, I appreciate the note of sorrow in your tone and post.

Interesting, I always had them in my mind as a US company founded by Germans.

EDIT: https://shop.hartmann.com/heritage :)

I used to travel a LOT (150+ nights a year traveling, mostly international flying), I had Samsonite for a larger case that survived ok, but Tumi worked really well especially for carry on luggage. I wanted Rimowa but I stopped traveling before my Samsonite was past it's best so never did get Rimowa. My Tumi is still like new after 7 or so years.

And back on topic of last purchase:

I have these in white. I use them also with an iPhone7 plus.

I used them already on a plane and they are superb. No lag, no audio issues, can't hear the guys next to me. Love them!

I do have issues at home though:

Sometimes when I am in a call with more than one person (more than one caller on a conference line) my voice seems to lag on the call (People respond to me after a second or two). I turn them off and the problem goes away. I am guessing this is due to the conference call carrier (WebEx) being incompatible with them if that makes any sense. I have no issue with them either on a regular call or skype or FaceTime.

The other issue I have is that at home I have too many bluetooth devices: iPads, phones, keyboards, computers, watches, trackpads, mice, PS4 controllers, headphones ... I counted them and the Bluetooth devices are easily approaching the late teens and soon will be beyond 20 . And when I use these headphones, I do get interference. Sound sounds garbled on a call, no issues with music. I only experience this at home. I have flown with them (going to another country) and NOWHERE did I have interference: multiple airports, planes, places I visited, etc... so yeah... only happens at home so I won't pick on BOSE just yet o_O

BOO-terscotch M&Ms... freakin' priceless. :p Now @blaine07 please tell me you did not buy all those bags of BOO-terscotch M&Ms. (Yes I am purposely typing that again because bad food puns make me o_O)

Certainly beats my green food and not-so-healthy oatmeal cookie that I purchased earlier today.

Got tired of my cards bending in wallets, so I swapped out for this from Amazon. It's only ~$7, so it's no great loss if I don't like it. I can fit 6 cards and 2 $20 bills comfortably.
