I've got an old T420 myself. Don't use it for too much but if I need a spare computer handy for something it's useful to have around. Those old ThinkPads are built like tanks.

As for the OP, guessing the same as a lot of people on this forum:

Got the high end model and added 1TB storage.

Spur of the moment purchase this morning, as I was on waiting for reviews and was also originally going for the Mini. But.. because I ultimately want a redesign iMac I picked this to test this transition and also didn't need to get a monitor and peripherals.

Gold, 16GB and 1TB.

Refurb Lenovo x270. Now Apple is moving away from Intel I needed a device for the small amount of Windows work I do. First thing I did was replace the awful TN panel with an IPS HD display.

With the struggles of competing with online Bots and scalpers (same with next gen consoles), I was finally able to snag an Nvidia RTX 3000 series card to start working on my PC build. The only place around me that sells these in store is a Micro Center 1 hour and a half away from me... these never hit the shelves. A friend of mine endured the the "List Master" List check-in times for 2 days, and was able to secure me a voucher a EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra. I preferred the RTX 3080, but I snagged what is available. Plus... an upgraded model is better than a downgrade... haha. If he wasn't able to get one, I was about to pay the $500 to $600 markup on Amazon or eBay.

I have turned into jelly from jealousy aha.
Trust me, I know the feeling. RTX 30 series cards are hard to get in model you want. I was jealous of myself holding the box in line to purchase. I was getting desperate with Cyberpunk 2077 just around the corner.

URGH. I've been F5's every Best Buy drop (even today) but no luck so far for the 3080 FE.
I think I might just have to pay over retail to buy it.

Sadly... getting the exact model you want, you might have to go that route. The Tustin Micro Center community "List Master" list process is probably the best chance of scoring an RTX 30 card... but it's all by chance. My 1st day I got on the list, I was able to get a Gigabyte RTX 3070 Vision card for my 13 year old. He wanted EVGA, but the Gigabyte 3070 is better than smashing the F5 button everyday for the brand he wants. Online retail stores really needs to do something to prevent bots from depleting stock for honest customers.

I went to my local MC, they had a sign up that said "ALL RTX CARDS SOLD OUT." Wouldn't even entertain a list. Needless to say its been a rough few weeks.
