Would you mind sharing how you were able to load the TMO logo onto your phone? Sorry to derail the thread, but I noticed this earlier and tried to use Carrier Editor in conjunction with iTunes, but it never actually loaded. Is this something you absolutely have to jailbreak for?

Replacing carrier text with an image does absolutely require a jailbreak.

Just a typical day with Verizon.

Very good upload speeds for HSPA+.

Thank you! But this time the upload speed was unusually good. In general I'm getting around 20MBps down and from 3.5Mbps to a bit more than 4.1MBps up. My contract says 42Mbps down and 4Mbps up on HSDPA+ (my MVNO does not support LTE, only HSDPA+) Ping is always around 30 to 40ms. Our next tower should be about half a mile away.
I think the maximal transmitting power in Switzerland is less than in US but they had to install more cell towers (especially in areas with less peoples or in villages between higher mountains in the alps).

I got a prepaid T-Mobile sim in order to do some testing today. Coverage is pretty craptastic in southern tier of NY, but I wanted to test anyway. These are the speeds I was getting. It was crappy 5MHz band 2, in this region of southern tier NY by the way.
10x10 AWS LTE is suffering at Denver International near gate C24. Band 4 HSPA+ (UARFCN: 2087) beats the download. LTE strength was -101. H+ was -83.

What jailbreak tweak did you use to get the field test mode optimized for your screen??

Given the area once had unusable EDGE / GPRS data, that's a huge improvement.

Thanks for the reply, and I'll add that tweak to my list I'll be installing whenever a 9.3 jailbreak releases :p

And yeah I've been watching the maps for awhile and it definitely was worse not too long ago. 1900mhz was just not a good choice for this area with all the towers far away in the hills (that's just how they're all placed here with the less than ideal terrain) by the time the signal reaches far enough out from the hills on that higher frequency, it's weak. I doubt they had another choice of spectrum to deploy though, just deploying what little they had at that moment I'm assuming. Definitely better than nothing.

This is why the 700mhz spectrum they just bought will help them A LOT, and this is also why Verizon gets such good signal around here. I took a 30 minute commute to that area and with Verizon it was literally 5 bars. The entire trip. No Service the entire way on the other hand with T-Mobile. Hoping T-Mobile gets the spectrum they bought deployed soon. I'd love to switch but Verizon's service is absolutely spectacular around here while T-Mobile's.. Isn't. Unfortunately. I'll keep testing though.

And to offset any cherry-picking...

Yesterday at Baymeadows / Southside. Speeds are usually this bad. Upload got better as I was moving away from the area mid-test.

are you starting to see the overloaded network issues that Orlando seems to be having?

Mt Vernon, IN

.33-.98 download at work for download and a bit over 9 download at McDonalds.

damn, Sprint still struggling in Southern Indiana eh? I just moved to Florida from Evansville a few months ago, and Sprint on my iPad seems to work rather well down here, but I had to get away from them while living up there.

Sprint is getting worse and worse with time. Even a few months back, it was way better than it is now. I'm likely moving to TMo when I pay off my phone and tablet.

Verizon in Palm Coast FL. Service has gotten a lot better here in the last month. Use to be no more then 10 Mbps download. Still needs some help on the upload.

B4 (20x20) LTE vs B2 HSPA+ at Magic Kingdom near the liberty bell. Don't let the LTE speeds fool you -- nothing else would load. B12 LTE on a Lumia 640 worked a bit better and was actually usable. Still unimpressive compared to how much faster everything was one year ago.
