Okay, this may have been done already, so if it has this will just die, I'll get a couple of flames for not searching good enough, and life will go on. But, I'm putting the finishing touches on my Mac based home studio (very home studio) and I was wondering what everyone else has. From the simpiliest Garageband user to the big time I would love to see and hear about what everyone uses.

As soon, as I get a couple more things in the mail I'll show my set-up, that is pretty basic, but good enough for my needs until I can get an updated Intel Mac and the software has all be updated (could be awhile, but I'm willing to wait).
 
Okay, well ... this didn't take off like I had hoped it would, but I guess I try to get the ball rolling.

It's not much to speak of right now, I guess I would call it my "transition" set-up. All I'm using right now is a DI box, a NanoVerb (guitars and vocals), Shure SM57, and the iMic. Also, not pictured are my Digitech RP-3, SWR Workingman's 10, and my pride and joy ... well sorta, my reworked Epiphone Electar 10 tube amp (new class A tube and speaker :: sounds like a Fender Champ only better).

In the mail this week I will have a Behringer Eurodesk UB802, some new reference headphones, a pop filter, and a toy to be named later (Christmas $$).

Okay, the ball is officially rolling. Let's see some set-ups before I repost with my new toys.

Thanks- I like it too. :) In the rack I have a PreSonus Firepod- which is one of the greatest home-recording inventions ever. Also, a Samson 4-channel headphone amp, and a power conditioner. I primarily use Cubase SX3 for recording, but I'm not afraid to bust out GarageBand.

Oh, and the monitors are M-Audio BX5's.
 
what about digital imaging or content creation, a studio doesn't have to be just music right?

[ps presently I can't afford a home studio :( ]

Yep, I'm recording my brother. Just him, guitar, electric guitar, bass, and eventually drums. Funny thing is so far on the two songs we've done we have laid down four real instrument tracks and one software track on a 3:38 song. All this was done on a 1.25 Mac mini with only 256 RAM! No problems with the recording or playback so far. Once we get some finished I'll post them up here.
 
Here is my dads studio at his house. This picture is about a year old, he has some new stuff added since then. the room is pretty big too, lots of room to the right that you don't see where the mic's and such are setup for recoding. This summer he is going to renovate and install an isolating room, should be awesome.

Okay, I received my new stuff and cleaned up my space a little so here are a couple more pictures. I hope this prompts a few more posts.

From L to R: Seagull S6+Spruce, Ibanez SDGR 800, and a cheap OLP Electric. Down low you will see my Digitech RP-6, SWR Workingman's 10, and my Electar Tube 10. Also you will see my beautiful SM57.

From L to R: Alesis NanoVerb hooked up to the effects loop, Behringer UB802 Mixer, Polaroid LCD TV, and my Mac mini 1.25.

I'm just using Garageband and plugging everything into the UB802 that then goes out to the iMic and into the Mac mini. Things work pretty good for my fun recording sessions! I do have some stuff on my wish list though for my birthday in March.
 
Haven't had a serious home studio for a long time, but this one is really mine, I designed it, built it and lecture in it, so it's mine, yes it is and you can't have it , no.:D

The Mac is a dual 2.5 with twin 250Gb drives and 4Gb RAM, desk is a Digidesign Control 24, the system is Protools HD3 with Logic 7, Reason, Reaktor and a bunch of plug-ins as well.

Monitoring in 5.1 is Dynaudio BM6a's and the are some cute outboard units, on the left you can see the controllers for the Soundfield Mk5 mic, a Focusrite 428 and an AMEK Rupert Neve Purepath dual pre.

That's not a bad set up you've got there WinterMute and I'm in no way envious:D

We use balanced TT in all the main rooms and only use TRS in the programming suites, TT's great if you get it right first time, but is a bitch to troubleshoot, plus the cables are expensive.

TRS is cheaper and easier to troubleshoot but less reliable and the cables are cheaper.

There's also the space issue, you can get a whole lot more connections in a 19" rack format with TT.

Labels were a problem, so we designed our own templates in the end, I think its a bit easier now.
