I had my Mac mini m1 for little over two months and it has been a solid and fast machine. It sits in my home office with my work laptop I use for telework during weekdays.

DSC05364.jpg

Setup consists of:
Mac mini M1 (512 GB SSD/16 GB of RAM)
Monitors: 2x Dell Ultrasharp 2415 24" IPS displays
OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock
External Drives: 2x Caldigit AV Pro 2 with 3 TB WD Red drives
Mouse/Keyobard: Logitech MX Anywhere 2S Mouse and Corsair Strafe Keyboard
iPad Pro 9.8" with Smart Keyboard and 2018 iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard
Speakers: Bowers and Wilkins M-1 Loudspeakers connected to a NAD D3020 v2 Intergrated Amplifier (Optical audio connected via OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock)

The M1 Mac mini replaced my Hackintosh, which is built around a X99 platform and a Intel 6820k and Vega 56 graphics. I took the Vega 56 out and put it in my eGPU for my MacBook Pro and added the 980ti, and turned it into a VMWare ESXI server.

Love your setup and wallapaers! What is the wallpaper obscured by the window on the right display? :)

@d3n, customary "What's the monitor ?" response.

Thanks
It‘s a Dell UltraSharp U2720Q with a UHD (4k) panel, can be driven by the MBP with USB-C at 60Hz while charging it with 90W.

Good monitor. It has just one flaw: If you use it in the max-res 60Hz mode over USB-C, it throttles down the connected peripherals to USB 2.0(!). I think it’s a bandwidth limitation of USB-C, but it‘s a bit annoying. Added a HP Thunderbolt 3 dockingstation to the mix because of this. I would definitely go for the LG 27“ 5k knowing that now.

PS: I should know that question comes up, sorry for not having added that essential piece of information upfront ;)

  • MacBook Air M1
  • HP E233 (1920x1080)
  • Logitech Z200
  • i-Tec Dock TB3CDUALDPDOCKPD (kind of buggy and overkill for Air)
I don't use mouse. Before M1 I used to use 2 HP E233, but I'm not comfy with DisplayLink adapters because of performance and lack of DRM.

Hello,

This is my Mac setup :

View attachment 1737055
  • Mac mini M1 8Go, 512Go SSD
  • LG UltraFine Ergo 32"
  • Keyboard : Apple A1243
  • Mouse : Logitech MX518
  • Logitech Z623 2.1
I love this, one of my favourites in this thread.

I am always worried about spilling drinks on my desk (or one of my children or cat doing it) so put my Mini and the HomePod on a riser to keep them safe - otherwise I'd want something just like this.

1080 on Mac, at 120Hz and 1440 on Windows PC at 144hz.

Samsung C49"
That’s a pity. I use a 2017 iMac 5k, and would like to switch to an M1 mini with a 49” or 50” ultrawide, but I want it to be 5k wide, even if not full 5k depth. What’s your horizontal resolution at 1080?

A few weeks ago, I purchased a Mac Mini...

PS: Since this photo was taken, I have since changed the network cable to black. And, I ordered and installed a stand for the Mac Mini (by Jarlink).

Hi ... I've seen a few wide screen monitors that are just far too narrow for me.
I purchased a low end gaming monitor from NewEgg (MSi 30" model) and it was so narrow it was annoying. IT was returned in 5 days.

Is there any 30-38" at 3840x 1920 (? higher than x1080) resolution that is not a 'narrow' screen (top to bottom)?

My new home office set up

Changed from my 2012 setup, iMac and two Apple 27 inch Thunderbolt Display Monitors, one power by my Mac mini. And also had 15inch Mac Book Pro.

Much prefer the expense of just one Mac laptop/pc

(Mac Book Pro 16inch 2.4 Core i9 32RAM 2TB AMD Pro 5500 8GB, iPad Pro 12.9 with Magic Keyboard). 2 x 27'' UltraFine™ 5K Monitors. Bose Companion 50 speakers

inside your DSDT
Current :

MacPro 5,1 & Wacom MSP
MacBook Pro 15,1 (for browsing and lightweight duty such as web development)

Maybe not so clean setup as others, but this just my small apartment converted into workplace.

There's also 7,1 and couple of hackintosh enclosed in G5 and Mac Pro enclosure on opposite side (not pictured) because it was more messier than this photo, connected to bunch of audio interface and monitor speakers.

Past :

MacPro 6,1 & Intuos 5
Loaded Windows 8 under BootCamp. My trashcan isn't visible because it was positioned behind that twin monitors. Ended up part with my 6,1 because it was dead end product, sold it before D700 GPU acting up.
