ohh ok! cheers! i'll look into it. although $40 is a lot to pay for a piece of folded aluminium... i could get someone at school to make me one for much cheaper...i might look into that too.lol. thanks none-the-less!

i guess you guys should look into a home made project? i bet it's not hard, you just need to find a solid material (no suggestions from me, sorry) that you could bend into the shape you need it to be.
This is my initial set-up of my brand-new iMac (which sadly has a busted iSight camera). I later put a shelf in above the printer (about 1 inch above, making it hard to use ) and set up a back-up drive next to it. But this is the gist.
The most hilarious part is how the gap between the vertical "shelves" is almost exactly the same width as the computer. So it's kind of hard to get at right now.

But what about the color/texture. Aluminum plating looks nothing like the anodized aluminum of Mac products... It's shiny and gray-looking. Maybe a mild acid wash would provide similar appearance? Either that or some powder coat silver paint would probably do the trick nicely.
I do hope you are returning the iMac if it is "brand new" out of the box with a non-functional iSight...

I don't think the dust has really done anything to my machine really beside make it dirty. No overheats or anything.
I keep mine on the floor so my dog doesn't knock it over or anything
