dunno why it takes 40 seconds now, it was 25~30 seconds when i reinstalled...well, maybe i hv so many stuff to be run at start up

2009 MacBook 5,2 (Polycarb) 2.0GHz C2D, 2 GiB 667 MHz DDR 2 RAM, NVidia 9400m graphics, 250 GB 5200 HDD, 10.5.8 no startup apps.
 
MacBook- 22 seconds
PowerBook G4- 35 seconds
I don't turn off the G4 tower so I can't do a test right now, but the last time I booted it up it was about 30-40 seconds.

Shutdown (really important too) is 1.4 Sec

15 seconds from power button press to desktop. 12 from dong to desktop. Shutdown ~2 sec.

this is average of 10 tests.

max boot time 25.1 sec
max shutdown 5.6 sec

Old Dell PC - just over a minute ( 1 min and 3 sec's to be exact).

Single Quad at 2.93, 3.3 TB data storage on three disks, ATI Radeon 4870 EFI card.

ok shut down 9 apps running one was transmission with 86 torrents running
1min 19secs. shut down from no apps running 10 secs

boot after the all apps open shutdown 51 secs. boot after no apps shutdown 35 secs

MBP 15", 2.8 C2D, 4 gig ram, 500Gb hdd 450Gb used 50Gb free.

new iMac restart from enter to desktop 29.5 secs

startup from button pushed 26.2 secs

shut down 4.3 secs
