Mine gets used on my lap or at whatever unsuspecting table I encounter, so no pic from me I'm afraid!

15" 2.5GHz Intel Core i7 Late 2011
8GB 1333MHz DDR3 RAM
And, because I'm nuts, the Apple 512GB SSD.

I love how this thing performs.

i have 3 computers:

1. My iMac, which is my main computer for editing videos, web, music and so on.

2. A Pc for gaming.

3. My freshly bought Late high end MacBook Pro "15 which i'm going to use for bus, train, school and portable gaming at friends' house and whatnot.

15" 2011 MBP
2.2Ghz quad core i7
120GB apple SSD
Anti glare screen

and... just bought today!:
120GB intel SataII SSD
8GB OWC Ram
OWC data doubler & tools

Main computer, i do have some sony's, one all in one desktop, one laptop and a cheap toshiba netbook I bought for my current location (which I dont use as intended). I take my MBP pretty much everywhere and once i get the 2nd SSD installed and can run windows via bootcamp I will put some games on it, as well as my time machine back up, music, and i have 2 1.5tb seagate externals (one mac fw800 and one usb 3.0 for pc's and sharing my pirated movies with others).

just got the computer about a month ago and i love it. crashed it once by messing with disk permissions and used the lion thumb drive to reboot. runs amazing and i can say its a challenge going from pc to mac. but worth the effort.

Base early 2011 mbp 13" I5 with lion encased in one of those hard plastic cases in orange. Its just a few weeks old bought as an open box from best buy for a great bargain price of $800. Main program on it is office 2011 and i only use word. I use it in conjunction with a 2010 mac mini on sl using office 2004 but using just word. Its connected to a 22 inch hp non-glare monitor that can swivel from landscape to portrait. Attached is the apple bluetooth keyboard and magic trackpad and a couple of ext hdd and thumb drives all for backup.

My travel set up

MacBook Pro 17in
2.4GHz Intel Core i7 Quad Core
8GB DDR3 1333 MHz
Cuucial RealSSD C300 256GB for softwares
Reove the SuperDrive to house a Hitachi 750G 7,200rpm drive for data
The removed SuperDrive to be in a Mac style plastic case as external drive
It works FAST!

The module for the E-SATA to put into the SuperDrive Bay is only about USD 30. The external SuperDrive case costs around SUD 20.

Regards, K

I've got an early 2008 15" MBP as my main computer
2.5 GHz C2D
4 GB RAM
250 GB 5400 rpm HDD
3rd party mouse
Apple usb keyboard
Dell 2209WA display

13" MacBook Pro Early 2011 fresh off of the Apple Refurb Store
2.3 Ghz Intel Core i5
4GB of RAM
320GB HDD

Connected to a 1TB Hard Drive connected to my Airport Extreme Base Station, which I run time machine backups to (using a command in terminal, which I found on this website, but do not remember where).

No external monitor (something I used to do), just setup on my nice spacious desk, with an external bluetooth mighty mouse. Got rid of the complicated setup as I moved back home from my apartment (as the house that I am going to move into, is still being built).

Have Windows XP installed on a Parallels VM, as I do not have a license for Windows 7 to let Boot Camp work, and I do not feel like going to buy a license for it either. XP is only on here for me to test Point of Sale applications for a store that my father is opening, and we are evaluating what is a good POS system, after he orders the cash register machines from Radiant Systems.

Yes this is my main, and now my only computer :)

Even after I move into my new house, I am still going to keep the same simple setup. I always get "You're a computer guy, why is your setup so simple?"...Simply put, since my job involves computers, there is no NEED to go home only to feel like I am going to work.

I keep two laptop bags of different styles underneath the table, so when I need to just getup and go, I place the MBP into one of the bags, and run out the door with just the MBP and iPhone.

The second picture is my on the road setup...No this is not how I drive, but since I make a living by driving, having only a portable computer (since I am rarely home anyways) as my main computer helps to keep track of files. Time Machine backups begin automatically as soon as I reach home...I get home late.

Why do you guys all have multiple devices. Isn't that a waste of money? Why not just a MPB with a display. I have a TBD and see no need for a extra device. Powerful as a imac or more so, hook it up via two connections. Mag safe and thunderbolt. Just grab and go.

A ipad and iphone yes. Imac, extra MBP? Not having to move files is nice, and even with icloud still would not make sense to me. Just wondering why.

obviously we all love Apple products and find uses for them in our busy lives.

I need a desktop as my family will use it to watch movies, videos etc. I need a a laptop for work. It's so we can all have access to a computer at any time.
If the family is using the desktop to watch a movie, I'll use my laptop if needed.

Not that hard to figure out.

Really? Sorry to break it to you, most families don't use imacs to watch movies. Lets get the popcorn and all sit around the imac?

Well that was not what I was referring to. Most family's don't watch movies on their computers, they watch them on their tv's. Apple TV, Roku, streaming services built into the tv etc.

Nor was I talking about multiple users and what computers a family needs or not.

Why would a person use a macbook pro and a imac or another macbook pro. For a single user. For instance would you have a imac for personal use and a macbook pro for work when they both do the same thing?

I don't see the logic in it. I use my macbook pro for everything. When I get home i plug it into my TBD and it's my desktop for example.

My family does not sit around the iMac to watch movies. I never said that.

we do watch movies on our plasma big screen and we get most of them thru our computer.

If someone needs multiple laptops and computers, sorry but that's just the way it is. You can't understand why they need multiples? Seems like your angry over nothing. I'd hate to see what happens when a real life problem creeps up. You're looking and reacting at this from a completely singular perspective. Maybe you're single, young and don't have kids. I do and I need desktop, multiple laptops, iPads for us.

Get a grip and relax mate!

This is my MBP at my little student room. :)

Does the Apple 512GB SSD appear as the full 512GB? There were reports its actually 480GB. The remaining used for over provisioning.

Lol. You're funny. I was joking, relax. I am so angry Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....

I own my own business and have kids. I own 27 imacs, 8 Mac Pros, and multiple Macbook pros at my business. I only use my Macbook Pro, for everything as well as a Ipad and iphone. I can use as many as I want, but only need and use one. For myself.

And no I don't use my computer for movies, nor do most famlies. Not angry in the least. Why are you?

You assume alot. This is a internet forum. Not real life, take a breather, lighten up. ;)

You still don't get it. I said ipad, iphone, I have multiple devices. Why would someone need a imac and a macbook pro for yourself, not your family. I am not talking about buying a imac for the wife or kid or how many macs you have in your house hold. Or having just one Mac per family. You missed the boat on this one my friend.

Or two macbook pro's. Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a $99.00 dollar Apple TV or a Roku and stream movies instead spending $1500.00 plus and use the imac as a media streamer? My wife has a imac and a Macbook Air. Uses one for her MBA to carry with her since the Macbook pro is too heavy for her. So she needs both. I don't. How hard is that to understand?

PS. buy a apple TV, or a roku it's easier, just a tip. :)

Great MBP's guys. I Feel left out with my 08 MBP -_- lol

I have the exact same laptop, and feel that is great, but recently I've been getting fearsome of the day its nvidia fails... hopefully it can make it to the next refresh, and then its over, not taking any more chances... although thats the same thing I've said for the past 18 months hehe

one thing, I can't carry the iMac around with me. If my wife wants to use the desktop, I guess I can't use it when she does. But hey, if you're into carrying your iMacs around - more power to you.
you seem to be doing plenty of assuming yourself. You seemed to be annoyed in your first post.
But the real question is who really cares? Does this really matter to you? I guess my big question is why do you care so much how we spend our money and why did you have to use this thread (which is about posting your Mac set up - not creative ways to save money)

I'm going to go watch a movie on my computer.

I have no stake in this and really don't care what you think or do.

But for the sake of the forum, instead of derailing this thread. Just start you own, if you really need to know why people need redundant devices. If I missed your point, it's really not a concern to me. Your bragging about owning 27 iMacs. Now that is funny. Let's see what other comments you'll try to make in order to soothe your ego.

----------

MacBook Pro 13" late 2011 8 GB Ram
22" HP monitor
wireless keyboard & trackpad

clean easy to carry around. But enough power for office use.

I am not bragging about anything, just making a point. Sooth my ego. Lol. I could brag about quite a bit if you knew who I was, but I will take the higher road and let you be content in your assumptions if it makes you feel better.

Not derailing the thread at all. I asked a question pertaining to the thread.

You still don't 'get it'. Numerous people posted their setup with multiple macpros and imacs plus mac pros. I asked why people need more than a one macbook pro for 'themselves. Does it make sense to have two macbook pros for themselves. Not to me so I asked why? Why a macbook pro and a imac instead of a macbook pro and a TBD? Most people don't do that.

Did you own a imac first and need a portable? I asked why to the people who do. Maybe a good reason and I might do it myself. Legit questions.

Not in their household or their wifes imacs but there macs. If you have two macbook pro's why? Does that question offend you? if it does read another thread.

Since it would be redundant to have both. How is that derailing the thread.

You're the only one with a problem here. You said it's not that hard to figure out. Well I dont see the need and asked why. If you have a problem with it don't post, or go make some popcorn and have movie night on your imac. I don't care which.

I seem to be reading in your previous posts that you didn't understand why someone would have an iMac and a laptop. The point being you can use your laptop with a monitor. Now you're asking in this post why people need 2 laptops. You're right I don't get it, as your argument seems to be changing.

I am sorry I don't get your point. Can we just move on and stop polluting this thread? My argument is not so important that I want to continue arguing with you.

Can we just agree that we do not agree and walk away? I see no point in continuing this topic in this thread. It's just not worth it.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.
