Any apps you have as complications will drain your battery. Even if you turn background app refresh off (which isn't necessary), apps set as complications will refresh in the background and run continuously.

Apps set as complications are far more relevant than the settings for wifi, background app refresh, auto workout, and fall detection. I have all of those on and get 2 to 3 days battery life.

I would take a hard look at third party apps and complications rather than spending time reducing the functionality of your watches by turning of settings that have a marginal affect on battery consumption.

I turned off Fall detection and my usage went down considerably. It’s now at 4 hours with exactly 24 hours standby with the battery at 46%. It’d usually be over 6 hours of usage by now. Though I must say I switched to Infograph modular last night and I use it for sleep tracking.
I’ll let it drain completely to see the actual mileage.

I haven't tried any before and after comparisons with Fall Detection, but I assume the motion sensors in the watch are still on and calculating G Force for other tasks such as Activity. It would be interesting to see if it does have an affect though.

My guess is with Fall detection OFF the Watch doesn't have to calculate all the 32 g-forces extensively all the time. I'll try to run another complete cycle and see how well it fares without Fall detection.

Edit: It's at 32% when it'd usually be at 20% or below now with the Fall detection OFF. Even the usage dropped relative to standby times.

I just switched to the series 4 from the series 2 and I too am seeing the battery drain right when I take it off the charger. The series 2 would last about an hour before I would see it go to 99% but the series 4 is pretty quick to drop. I took it off the charger an hour ago and it is already at 97%. Hoping it gets a little better of maybe it will be slowing in the middle percentage.

I just checked my Series 4 after reading your post, and it's strangely still at 100% after 2 hours.

I've had mine since launch, and as some others have mentioned it seems to settle in after the first week or so...

Give it a few days to settle and if it's still the same, try to disable Fall detection if you don't need it.

SALS4GPS-44: watch is really just a watch - some notifications (email, text, calendar, a few more) - no workout - no fall detection - brightness and sound on min. Outlook, DarkSky, Smartthings are the main complications.

6AM to 10PM I would float around 70% left.

6AM to 10PM with raise to wrist off - float around 80% left.

Only had it for a week. In theory could probably get a couple days out of it.

Thanks, I will try the fall detection suggestion. I just checked, I didn't have fall detection on. I did remove other apps that I know I will not use on my watch. I will see how it goes for the next week.
